My educational posts are just because over 30 years of being in this dog industry as they call it, which is showing dogs, having a big interest in health, behaviour and my learning. I love to share what I have learnt with you. There are so many breeders who just breed and sell and thats about it, and they have no interest in the mechanics or health or welfare of the breed.
Sometimes I will talk about just care of your dog and sometimes I will go into more in-depth aspects of health which is seen in all dog breeds. But when you are interested it opens up possibilities to guide your breeding into the right aspects of behaviour, welfare and health. I recently learnt I have ADHD and this is probably why my brain works so fast and I see things that others just do not see. We knew my daughter had Autism and its in the family but neuro spicy brains can over think, work out solutions. Im never saying Im clever but I just sit and over think it to a point where I understand it. Im not happy with mrs Jones on the internet saying she thinks it's like this. I want to know well is their any science backing this statement. Is their research, is their evidence. If I pull up a subject to talk about it I can tell you it's not because ive seen it in my own dogs. It's because Ive read it online, chose to study it. Like CPD I talked about yesterday. Ive not had one of my own Vizsla with it, but we saw it in a Pug. But then when I looked into it, tons of cross breeds and pedigrees are seeing it. This then got my interest because it's fascinating. Yes I should have gone back in time and became a vet but I never had the opportunities as a child to go on for more learning with my family. I had little choices in life but over time I made my own way. I now encourage young people when I see them with interests and Im mentoring one young lady who's 16 and has a passion for dogs, extremely clever and I can see in her endless possibilities for her future. She should go into the dog industry for sure. Her parents are also so supportive it's lovely to see. Let's be kind is my motto and if someone asks for help lets guide them towards the right professionals. One interesting thing Im now researching is the HARD EYE. There is a link to Epilepsy with hard eye dogs and that is the Vizsla. I need to find some more science on it. Im speaking to a behaviour specialist who first told me about this and I just want to know more and more. Is it to do with the brain being over focused on prey that can genetically cause Epilepsy. what an interesting fact. So come back when Ive done my research. I love to learn and hopefully I can educate others through my learning. I seem to be getting quite the following on social media and here for my ramblings as I call it.
