Breeder friends are pulling their hair out as puppies have now left their homes and still no registration papers have turned up. We will be in the same position soon. So whats happened?
The Kennel club completely changed their website, it had a new over haul. But with it they lost everyones information. Luckily several weeks later mine was sorted out. I had an email yesterday after i emailed them 2 weeks ago saying they have now put my assured breeder scheme status with my name and affix, as up to then these two items had gone. Their are now facebook groups set up and people are getting quite upset they are paying for puppies to be registered and no registration. My best friend rang them and it was 3 hours in the end she put the phone down. Another rang them and asked for a call back and two weeks later nothing. Its almost like the Kennel club have disappeared. Of course they haven't, their I.T team must be rushed off their feet, and in the middle of it all we have another lockdown. So they are working from home. As a breeder their is only so much we can do. Pay for registrations and wait. Wait for as long as it takes. Their are u tube links Ive sent all my latest puppy owners so they can see its not us and it is the Kennel club. The Kennel club have posted updates and apologies on U Tube for all to see. The Kennel club will now be loosing money on registrations as two things are going on. Most people I know have said that is it, they will no longer register puppies unless they are showing dogs or breeding dogs. All the other pups will be sold with out registration. The other thing is the Kennel club are now registering unrecognised colours as pedigree which will destroy pedigree dogs as we know it. For example when we register a pug now, we can register a long list of colours which aren't pedigree dogs. The unrecognised colours are cross breeds put into pedigree dogs to create colour. Instead of registering it as unrecognised, its now registered. So this brings in more income to the Kennel club. We are at the pinnacle of anyone breeding any dog now and it will get papers regardless of breed. Their is now a facebook group set up to sue the Kennel club. Im not sure how that will happen, but ive joined it to watch the problems breeders are having. The Kennel club are now in the position of loosing many pedigree breeders registering from what I can gather. What a huge mess! We are assured breeders so we will continue to register in the hope we get papers, but this is what is happening in the pedigree world right now. The BVA which stands for British veterinary association are the guys who score the hips for us. They also haven't been working. So scores done end of July still aren't through for some of my friends. They are pulling their hair out wanting to breed dogs with no hip scores. I have since learnt that now breeders are sending their X-rays instead of the BVA to OFA in America. This is something Im considering doing with Maisie, Pepper and Yennefer in 2 weeks time when they are scored with Breeder Imaging. They email you the result with in so many days. the OFA is another organisation that checks the hips. So you may find in the future our dogs are being checked now by American rather than UK.. You just couldn't, wouldn't expect things to get so bad here in the UK. But sadly it has. So you may find dogs now not on kennel club health check finders as several of us are moving our testing to other countries. At the end of the day we want to breed from health tested dogs! What are the registered colours of dogs we own. Pugs: Apricot, Fawn, Black. Silver. French bulldog, Pied, Fawn pied, Fawn, Brindle. Vizsla, Russet gold. Any other colour is not pedigree. So if you see a sable pug, its not pedigree, if you see sable frenchie its not pedigree, if you see fawn sable, its not pedigree and so on. Its just fawn, no other colour! Its not hard to work out but if you have never heard of it before you wont know. Why pay thousands for a cross breed ? surely its more important to have a health tested dog than buying it over colour ?
