Im always looking for new ideas how to make my website better. If anyone has any ideas, maybe I have not covered a subject you wished I had. Then do send me an email or what's app. All ideas are taken on board.
Im developing our hidden pages with more and more information as I go along. This is for Silvestre owners only because I am aware that other lazy breeders are referring people to my site for info. Maybe dont buy from them and come to us instead. Youll get more info then. You want a relationship with your breeder so you can ask questions any time you want as your puppy develops. Vizsla puppies in particular are not an easy breed for a start. You will sit down and wonder what you have taken on. But as time passes and they develop and mature you will have the best dog you've ever owner. I couldnt imagine life with out one, two three as I say. They also love companionship so another dog in the house is beneficial. R xxx

Today I spent a very interesting day in the company of my good friend and we attended a dog law seminar.
Trevor Cooper is the leading solicitor in dog law. I would like to thank him for his seminar and I learnt more on dogs. Ive always said my knowledge is quite wide where it comes to dogs, but I am always up for learning something new. In dog ownership I think you are forever learning. I remember someone asking me once why have 2 breeds of dog and not just specialise in one breed. Well the fact is I love dogs, I cant own all the dog breeds I would like too in my lifetime. But I wouldn't say I get bored with one breed, but I really enjoy learning. I am on a journey for me to understand more than one dog breed. The world of dogs is a learning kerb, and I really enjoy learning something new. I learnt lots today I did not think about before, like what happens to dogs in a divorce. What happens if you're reported for barking dogs. But much much more. Now I would like to attend another seminar which I hope he puts on. If you have a dispute with your pet dog, you can ring or speak to Trevor at www.doglaw.co.uk New page has been added in our hidden pages.
A links page which has links to rescue centres, behaviourist, holistic vets. Helpful links for you to have a look through in case you ever need a professional Only in the hidden pages for Silvestre owners only. As all silvestre owners know if they are a member of our Facebook owners group that we do worm counts on our adult dogs and have done for some time now.
So what is a worm count? A laboratory called worm count tests the stool sample to see if the dog has worm eggs, worm larvae and adult worms and sends test results back to owner. In the past we have always wormed puppies with panacur. But occasionally this really upsets the stomach of the puppy. French bulldogs are tiny puppies and the last worming I gave them I noted upset stomachs. So instead of giving a wormer to a dog which may not even have worms I have decided to worm count the litter. We have to remember that wormers are a poison. We should be limited in our use of wormers and flea treatments. If a dog does not have worms then why worm it. We can minimise our use of poisons which even affect dogs neurologically as they grow up. We are seeing dogs daily on Facebook groups having had terrible reactions after being given worm treatments. How does it work? Worm count will send me a pot and poo bag. We pick up the poos and pop in the pot and send back to them. They then email the results with in two days. Lets hope they have no worms and then we can encourage owners also to go down the testing route over poison route. Rachel xx Today I looked for the first time in a long while at puppy adverts.
I was pretty shocked how people advertise their puppies. Champion parents, so I looked at it, and parents weren't champion. There was a champion somewhere in the five gen pedigree. Our pet bitch has had a litter and I looked at many of those and the poor little puppies, were obviously poor quality. So why are pet litters not something Id go for? Generally poorer quality in puppy and when they grow they wont have the adequate bone. Owners have no. idea how to give advice and just get owners to ring other breeders. Ive had people ring me because their breeder has recommended my site (eyes roll). Dont buy from them then. They do not do the health tests or very little health testing. They do not declare to HMRC the income from that litter. So why is that important? Well if I said to you they earn probably 10 to 20k think about it. You're probably working hard in your job to keep. your family going and your paying tax, so why aren't they! They should be. They aren't licensed or an assured breeder, so no checks are done to make sure they are giving the adequate welfare to their dogs. The government in 2019 stated if you breed three litters a year you do not have to have a license, so pet breeders read this and think they can get away with it. But the next paragraph states if you sell one you are required to be licensed. It goes on to say if you have three litters you have to prove you havent sold them. How many adverts have you seen which are £0 ? NONE! So why did defra put that info in? It is because small breeds of dog like the Pomeranian has 1 puppy in a litter. With the stud fee, feeding and expenses of c section the breeder is not making money. So they allow for these types of breeds. But not our breeds of Bracco or Vizsla they are dogs which have medium to large size litters. So every breeder of these dogs should be licensed. I know many many that aren't licensed from reading their adverts. None of these pet breeders are doing it legally. So please stop financing them. Oh but they have gone to a good dog?! Really have you seen these so good dogs online. They are not good dogs and some carry genetic health issues being held at stud. Passed onto their offspring. Do you really want to give your puppy the worst start in life, and end up with big bills? They may be kept in a small pen all day and all night whilst owners are at work full time. Who's looking after them? No-one. Then you have puppies with behavioural issues because the puppies have been left to run amok. Remember you get what you pay for! Cheap puppies is cheap for a reason. To do everything correctly costs thousands in animal welfare not a few hundred quid. Choose wisely as your puppy could end up dead after a few years, or it could cost you thousands in vet bills with still same outcome. Go to established breeders with great reputations as we all know how to breed by avoidance, use health tests as a guide. Manchester Champ show January 2024
We travelled to Staffordshire for a champ show and left the dogs in Josh and Darcy good hands for the day. I was so proud of three new show goers with Silvestre dogs. We was there to watch Jane with her lovely boy Silvestre Capture the Flag who was 3rd in minor puppy which qualified him for Crufts 2024. We was there to watch Silvestre Stolen Kiss (Bracco), in special beginners class get 3rd place and qualify for Crufts 2024. We also watched Clemmey who was in her first champ show, and they enjoyed their day but didnt get a place today. Her day will come. It's a daunting thing going to a show with all that noise. The next time they will be better prepared and Clammy will understand what's going on. She stood very well though and moved. Well done to her! Our own girl Vespa was 3rd in limit bitch (Bracco). I have updated the diet page for all to see. This just general info why it's good to feed natural foods.
For our puppy owners you can read ore in depth articles in the hidden pages. I get emails for time to time asking about diet, so read the diet page. You can find it under the AVAILABLE PUPS tab. If you hover mouse, or highlight with finger that tab it drops down with other pages. Hope this helps you all. Rachel xx This week we learned yet again scammers are posting photos of other peoples dogs saying they have puppies available and there are NO puppies. This is something we can not get away from. If you notice any of my images online being used please contact me.
We can get Meta to take down false info, but sadly they just start up again with a new page, or new advert. For potential puppy owners it's a mine field knowing where to go for the reputable breeder. So what do you need to know. Its different now to years ago, and you need to be aware.
Please follow me on social media. I can be found on Instagram. My info is @silvestre.showdogs
We are owners, lovers and enthusiasts of Hungarian Vizsla, Bracco Italiano and French bulldogs. Im trying my best to keep Instagram going with photos and videos of our dogs and those people who have Silvestre dogs which I will share for you. With instagram we need more followers as we can not break through past 5000 followers. So Im trying to get genuine followers. So please follow even if you do not have a puppy from us, as we will be sharing videos of dogs you love, and helpful tips along the way. If you message me to say you've followed me then I will also follow you back. You can find me on Instagram and Tik Tok. Im endeavouring to do small videos which can help people with ailments of their dogs. The first one is about hairless patches on dogs. From time to time we find hair loss, and it maybe the result of a good poo rolling session weeks before. Foxes carry scaroptic mange and suddenly your dog has it. There are other reasons why dogs get red skin, itching skin, weeping skin. If in doubt you can consult your veterinary surgeon who will skin scrape and run tests. The reason for my little videos is a lot of owners now wish to treat holistically so with out the need for strong poisons to kill those pesky critters. If in doubt with any health problem your vet is the first person you should ask. I shall continue to put online helpful videos over the coming year. Neem oil is a natural oil derived from the neem tree, which is an evergreen of the tropics. It has a deep yellow colour and to me smells like garlic. Some can not smell garlic but I can. You should not use this neat on the skin as it's pretty strong. So use 1 part neem oil to 10 parts carrier oil. Im using an almond oil. Mix it thoroughly and dab on the hair loss area, leaving it on the skin. Do this for 7 days and see if there is less redness, less itchiness. I always crate a dog of mine after it's been done because they will rub it onto furniture. It dries after about an hour and the dog can come out and play again. |
