Birdies litter flew the nest this week and its been wonderful to get more time in with my adult dogs. You forget each time how demanding puppies are to look after as it's non stop. So my dogs have had extra walks this week with me and loving every moment of taking off to enjoy the countryside.
Thank you to everyone who came to us and now are in our wider Silvestre family. Its lovely to of had updates from nearly everyone. I will try and text everyone who hasn't contact me to check all is well. Usually no news is good news. Our next litter is now on the horizon as Geri was mated to Frodo and Im so excited at what Frodo is going to bring our small kennel of girls. We also hope to mate him to Willow. This could be end of the year or middle of next year. Willow is my top show girl and I may take her to a Dutch show later in the year. Just depends on how we feel but this could alter when she is due to have pups. We say goodbye this week to Jovie who is 3 years old. Jovie is a beautiful girl, but sadly she did not like having puppies and on her first litter needed a C section as she wouldn't give birth. Then when she had them it was such a shock to her that it took her three days before she could look at them. Which meant constant care from me day and night of no sleep. She loved them and would never hurt one but wouldn't clean one of them. She did eventually but only wee and not a poo. Ive never had a dog which actually cringed at the thought of eating their poop. So we decided as a family that although she did a fantastic job we would not put her through it again. Surely thats what good breeding is about. Taking forward the dogs that love it, and dont breed the ones that do not. We never breed just because we can. All things have to align well. So Jovie is going off to Carol who's had another older Silvestre and she lost her earlier in the year and has waited for us to be ready to let Jovie go. She can enjoy live on someone's sofa for the rest of her days and we wish them all the best.
