What comes with experience

When you buy a puppy off an established breeder the knowledge is vast.   Breeding dogs is not a business no matter what anyone will tell you because an established breeder who has spent a lifetime will of put their heart and soul into their dogs.  This means 365 days a year, starting early in the morning until you sleep. Living and breathing dogs.  There are many of us who do it because we love it not because of puppy money.  Show folk are living breathing examples.

I was reading yesterday someone in America put a post up how much work they put into showing their dogs.  The professional photos they have taken, the costs of professional handling, breeding, keeping dogs in the tip top condition. I sat there as the post was quite long and thought, my goodness I do wonder what people think we earn out of breeding dogs as the expenses are vast.  

In the UK the vets prices have escalated.  Food prices have gone up. Health testing has gone up.  You want a well bred puppy but the puppy price doesn't even give a breeder an income. It's done because of this love of doing it.  Loosing breeders like us would be drastic for dog breeding but even we have considered giving up because I do not earn an income from it.  If I didn't have my fabulous husband who helps we couldn't do this.   So appreciate your breeder little more. 

I even did another course this year to help my owners on behaviour.  I have been giving behavioural advice for years for free.  I still maintain giving advice for free for a max of 4 weeks but anything after that is now charged for.

When you go to established breeders you should get a much better puppy than those who just did it because they thought their pet should have a litter.  Also do not support puppy farming so choose your breeder wisely.
