We welcome Frodo to team Silvestre
This lovely boy is not at stud to anyone else and he is for our own girls only.

This lovely Sugar faced boy is 8 years of age, and he will bring a totally new bloodline to our girls. I am extremely grateful to Catherine Kelly who has trusted him to us. Frodo will live out his years with us.
As you can see from his photos he is living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment.
Frodo has an impressive pedigree with some absolutely stunning dogs behind him. We are quite excited what he will bring to our Kennel.

You may think why bring in an older dog? I was actually going to bring in semen from America and I was presented with Frodo and thought how much better it is to have a dog over frozen semen. Frozen semen is unreliable and you can get one puppy. But a breeder can not keep breeding to their own dogs all the time because they would get inbred. So going to a complete outcross every now and then brings new genes to the line.
Frodo is American/Canadian/Czech bloodlines. He is very much my cup of tea and Im glad to have him. He is in looks very much like older Vizsla head shape which is being lost today. I have to say I do not like a lot of the imported dogs coming to the UK. We live with the head and to me that melting chiselled headpiece is so important. A male should look like a male and a bitch a bitch. I love to look at a dog and think what a beautiful dog. When I look at Frodo I smile. Frodo has the bone, so not a tiny wimpy Vizsla. He is strong, yet moderate and this is what a Vizsla should be. He is breed standard size. We must remember show breeders are breeding to a standard, and you do not get giant dogs. Because we want to take offspring in the show ring and do well.
Frodo has superb construction and the most important thing is fore chest bone and depth of chest. If you see a hollow in a Vizsla front it's incorrect. We see so many poorly bred dogs. So Frodo has just what Im looking for to continue our blood line with top quality dogs.

Frodo has had all the health checks done to breed from. His previous owner did some and we have completed DNA tests. I can confirm that he is clear of inherited conditions that we have had him tested for.

Frodo had to get used to raw food here as he was fed dried food, and it's a big change to go to a new home and change diet. But he swapped very easily. He loves a Chicken carcass and he looks forward to his minces. He has treats every day which he loves.
Frodo loves travelling in the car and he looks forward to a walk in the forest as he has learnt that when I pick up my coat in the hallway it means fun things.

He loves lots of blankets in true Vizsla style. He sleeps on the sofa or the crate, he is quite easy going. His best friend is Geralt and the two of them follow each other around the garden like love sick teenagers. It is funny! They bonded initially as we walked Frodo first with Geralt as we know how great Geralt is with other dogs. Introducing a new dog to a larger pack is done carefully. But I had no worries because one day Frodo put his head through the fence and all Team silvestre flew over and they all sniffed each other. I opened the gate and Frodo walked through. All of them said hello wagging their tails and that was it. They all accepted him in and they all adore him now.

My only regret is I wish I had him as a puppy as my goodness I would have had some fun with him in the show ring. He's such a beautiful boy. We decided we wont show him any more because he is a champion anyway, and he may as well live his retirement on our sofa. Im just so glad he is with us
