Honey came into our lives in April 2026.
I have been friends with the breeder for several years, and every time she posted puppy photos I would say I must have a cocker spaniel back in my life. Our journey with Cocker spaniels started in the year 2000 and we bought a Blue roan puppy. But we had our Weimaraner's and our stud dog took a hate towards her. We had to walk her separate to him. She did what Cocker spaniels do and their friendly manner jumping all over other dogs he detested. My mother in law had just lost her Cross bred dog to cancer and I asked her if she would like to own her. They jumped at the chance. We did not realise at the time what a blessing it was because Purdy had a gift. She knew when my father in law was going to have a fit, and she would go and stamp her feet half an hour before an episode. He learnt to go and lay down on the bed when she stamped her feet which was amazing as he would have fallen and he had hurt himself many times. This gift of Purdy was obviously meant to be. She had a few litters with her and I helped.
I knew I would have another one day as I love the Golden Cocker spaniel. So destiny deemed it we would have a Cocker Spaniel.. I want to stress we do not cross breed our dogs, and I own dogs which people would cross. I have no interest in this. Honey was bought as a breeding bitch and I was going to show her, and I kept her in a show coat up to 7 months, then we decided our home is more unusual than most and our dogs need to run in the field and be happy. Having a show coat is impossible to maintain. So I have done a complete clip off. I will post some photos of Honey soon as I can.
So what can I tell you about Honey. She is utterly adorable, with the best temperament. She adores my dogs. Her favourite Vizsla is Candy and they get on well. But she mainly plays with my small dogs and I walk them together. Kiki loves her and they have some wonderful games together.
Honeys parents were fully health tested, and I will have Honey health tested when she's about 18 months of age, with the plan to have a litter with her when she is 2 years of age. At the moment she is a happy little puppy enjoying her life. She loves going out for walks, and is excellent in the car, and on the lead.
