Welcome to Nova to our home
Nova arrived December 2025 all the way from Northern Ireland. Eden visited our home all the way from Ireland. Then went back home again. We helped Peri Burnside and Scarlett have their first litter of Vizsla. Extremely dog experienced and breeder of other breeds, Scarlet runs her own dog training school, professional show handler, judge of young handlers. It was our pleasure to help them. We took Nova as our stud fee instead of taking payment. This is done between people when you want a slightly new line back. As my best friend said to me. WOW the pedigree is fantastic! Yes it is.
I was asked what do you want as a pet name and Nova came to mind which has great meaning for me. I always say when we loose a dog there is another star in the sky. But I also hope she will be little star in the ring in the future. As we are going to send her back to Ireland later as she has her European pets passport, and she will also go to Europe to be shown. So exciting times ahead for Nova. Now I've just got to train her as she's not used to being stood. The above photo was our first attempt and she didn't like it. So we are using lots of treats and going to stand her a few times and get her to ring craft in January. Hopefully I will win the day with her as I am used to dogs who have other ideas to what we want.
Nova is teething and when puppies are teething their ears dont lay right and they get flat feet. I always find that so amusing that teething affects them so much. Ive given her an Ostrich leg, Kong with JR pate in, Moon bones, cow hooves and just generally longer lasting treats so she uses those gums to bite hard things. Im also training her manners.
I just love her outline, as I watch her in the field. She has quite the hunting instinct which I need to train and we have excellent recall with her at the moment. But she uses her nose. Usually to find cat poop from our neighbours cat who keeps crapping in our fields. But at least she is using her nose ha ha.
I paired her with Jango in our house and it was a love affair instantly. He tried to shag her for a day, and now he realises she is a puppy he's stopped. They lay mouthing each other for ages, both adore each other. When I take them outside you find them together. I put them on our lawn together and they will go and play.
She has a superb temperament and fitted in just right with the Silvestre gang. Because she was an older puppy when she arrived I had to get her used to all the other dogs. They loved her instantly.
Nova has excellent colour coat. Fabulous head shape, she will be quite the stunner when she is an adult.
I was speaking to my good friend and dog trainer about Nova, and we were talking about Nova. I said Ive not had such an easy puppy in a long time now. It's been two years since Brandi who was a Maverick daughter. So this feels really pleasant that Maverick sure produces calm and easy going puppies. Also her breeder had put some work into her. Which so many do not.
Nova is now in training for the show ring. She has been to her first ring craft which was very positive. She loved meeting other dogs and people.
