TERMS AND INFO
- Only ask to go on our waiting list if you are happy to wait. Happy to roll from one litter list to another.
- There comes a point in the year we can not do a roll on roll off as we are not having a litter for then 6 months ahead. But we tell people and refund the holding fee.
- We hold waiting lists in this way; 1) Main waiting list, 2)Reserve list.
- We send you an agreement form for the main waiting list. We take £100 holding fee payment which reserves your place on the waiting list. This is not extra to the puppy, it is part of the deposit. Our deposits are £500, so when pups are born you then pay £400 to bring the deposit up to £500.
- The reserve list we do not take any holding fee, and if we can help you as we have had extra puppies then we do. Or you can ask to be at top of the next waiting list and a holding fee is taken.
- Our aim is to help you.
- If you just back out from the waiting list we do not refund the £100. This is to stop time wasters. Or try, as it does not always work. Our aim is to help you with the current litter or next.
- If I see 10 puppies on a scan I take 8 people on main list, and others on reserve list. This opens up opportunities for extra puppies to help people.
- We have found the above to be the most effective in helping people. Those who want to make sure they are not let down by breeders as many get let down. You know we are not taking other people ahead of you.
- Being in first place does not mean you have the choice of puppies, or pick of litter. It means you will get a puppy from the litter. That you are first in order to get one.
- We offer the pick of the litter to show homes or to keep ourself. But we have had several pet homes asking for the pick of the litter. We will charge extra to have the pick of the litter.
- We choose puppies for you based on over 30 years of being in this industry. I am in the process of writing a page to explain in detail.
- Dog breeds with different colours you may end up with having no choice, because we may get one chestnut in a litter of oranges. Etc. We do not charge more for pick of litter in Braccos. Only in Vizsla.
- Kennel club registration - All our puppies are automatically registered with the Kennel club. We now give you a choice as we are getting more people saying they are not interested in the paperwork.
- The price of our puppies varies between breeds we own. So no price is displayed on this website. The only fee you see is the deposit.
- The deposit for a puppy is £500. If you have paid £100 already then you will pay £400 once the litter is 3-5 days old.
- I would urge people to not keep nagging me after puppies are born. I loose such a lot of sleep and Im not the most pleasant when I loose sleep. Leave me to regain my strength again before you start with messages.
- You can also wait until puppies are born before you reserve a puppy, so you do not have to do the agreement form.
- We do not sell breeding dogs to pet homes. You would have to tell us up front you wish to breed from. your dog.
- We do not sell breeding dogs. The KC document will have a breeding endorsement placed on.
- If you want to breed from your dog, then you have to enter into a different contract of sale with us. To see terms click HERE
- We base the price of our puppies on lots of factors, the costs of keeping the parent dogs with health testing them. The achievements our kennel has had over time. The advice you will receive along the way and after. I do not know other breeders who has such a fab after care as we do, and this is why our dogs are the price they are.
- When you collect your puppy at 8 weeks you will be handed a folder and inside the folder we place paper work.
- We provide you with a 5 generation pedigree which is correct to the best of our knowledge.
- Worming leaflet.
- Microchip information.
- KC document.
- Contract of sale
- Receipt for full monies paid.
- Puppies are microchipped and registered to Animal tracker database.
- If you do not wish for your dog to be registered with animal tracker at a later date you can apply to transfer the micro chip to another company. But all dogs by law must be microchipped and registered to legal owner. Animal tracker charges a small fee to transfer microchip from breeder to owner.
- We have a whats app group for each litter. IN this I send photos, videos and information I think will be handy for you to know. I also send over documents of interest ie house training, diet sheets etc.
- I will send you a code from Nutriment so you can redeem 5 free kilos of puppy meat.
- Puppies are collected at 8 weeks on the dot. As a qualified behaviourist I can let them go a day or so earlier if it works better for a weekend for you.
- All our puppies are veterinary checked before leaving. We give you a letter with Vet details on. No puppy will leave if it is not fit and healthy. In rare cases we keep puppies a week or so longer until they are ready to go. For example if a dog picks up a skin infection or mild case issues.
- If you wish for us to keep your puppy longer than 8 weeks we advise you do NOT. A puppy is like a learning sponge absorbing the world. It needs its new paw parents. If it is impossible for you to collect just know that we charge now £50 per puppy per day. So from the date of collection. This helps to pay for training, socialising, loss of my sleep, food and anything extra.
- We close the whats app group a month after the puppy leaves and then you have the choice to join our Facebook page. You can meet all the other owners and get some good advice.
WAITING LISTS
- Please note we do not make waiting lists just from social media messenger. Or by text, or by email You have to physically pick up the phone and talk to me.
- CONTACT - See contact page. But text me 10.30am weekdays to arrange a call by text. Then we can agree on a time to chat.
- No breeder can guarantee sexes of puppies before birth. This is why our waiting lists we take half and half down. Or even better those owners who do not mind what sex they have.
- Because we have trialled so many ways of holding waiting lists, the way we do it above really works. The agreement forms stops you feeling you will be let down. Stops us from being annoyed that you're on so many other lists. It helps to stop time wasters.
- I never spend your deposits. It's put in an account that I do not touch. Then I can ping it over to you if I cannot help you with a puppy.
- I do not like making waiting lists years ahead. I know some do, but it's too impossible. The Vizsla breed is unpredictable in when it has seasons. Plus you would have to have an awful lot of bitches to guarantee times of years.
- We look for people on our waiting lists who are not in a mad rush for a puppy and know they can wait. We know they you are choosing a breeder on ethics over dont care.
- Agreement forms are sent by email. But whats app the form back, do not email it back.
- You must be ready to take a puppy when I say we have one. If you are arranging holidays do think about it. I give you the best time frames possible.
- We do not keep chasing people for puppies. If you do not respond to my whats app messages I shall assume you no longer want a puppy. Some people do disappear. I will contact you to say my girls pregnant, and if you do not reply in a week I will assume you do not want the puppy. Even if you have send a holding fee.
- We always announce birth on our puppies page information. It stays on their approx 1 week then is removed.
GENERAL INFORMATION - IMPORTANT FOR PUPPY BUYERS
Did you know that in the UK, breeders who meet the legal threshold are required by law to hold a breeding licence in order to sell puppies? Unfortunately, many breeders operate without one. A breeder’s licence number should be clearly displayed on their website. Ours is shown on the front page of our website.
As a buyer, it is your responsibility to check whether a breeder is properly licensed. If a breeder tells you they are not licensed, you must decide for yourself whether you wish to proceed. At Silvestre, we comply with all lawful breeding requirements.
We are aware that the Government wishes to see the IHA tool used in the breeding of short-legged dogs, flat-faced dogs, and merle dogs. This does not apply to the breeds we breed. Although we do own French Bulldogs, they are family pets and are not part of our breeding programme.
The legal minimum age for breeding from a female dog is 18 months for licensed breeders.
Please note that the Kennel Club will register puppies from a bitch that is only 12 months old. This does not make it right. The KC does not follow the regulations for the law on breeding animals. Kennel Club registration is not the same as breeder licensing. Licensing is carried out by your local council.
Although the Kennel Club allows dogs to be bred and registered up to 8 years of age, we personally do not like breeding from a dog after 6 years of age.
Our Ethos
Our promise is to give all of our adult dogs the life every dog deserves: a happy family lifestyle, long walks, love, companionship, and excellent care. We do not keep our dogs in kennels full time, and all of our dogs receive veterinary care whenever needed.
All of our breeding dogs are health tested. You are welcome to view the health test results in person when you visit us. However, we do not send copies of health tests by email, as personal information can easily be forwarded to others.
Puppy Health and Insurance
We strongly advise all puppy buyers to take out pet insurance from the day they collect their puppy. Even though puppies may not yet be vaccinated, some insurance providers will still offer cover until vaccinations are completed.
We do not vaccinate our puppies before they leave us, for the following reasons:
1. At 8 weeks, puppies may still have maternal immunity from their mother.
2. It can be difficult to ensure the exact same vaccine brand is used again.
3. This helps reduce the risk of over-vaccination.
Visiting and Meeting the Puppies
You will always meet the mother of your puppy. By law, you should meet both the mother and the puppies. The only exception would be in very unusual circumstances, such as if the mother were unwell on the day, in which case a deferred meeting would be arranged. Thankfully, we have not had this happen.
We provide hand sanitiser for all visitors to use before handling puppies.
Please do not bring your own dog or pet to meet the puppies.
Biosecurity is extremely important to us. This means protecting the puppies’ environment and reducing the risk of disease transmission. Many people do not realise that dog viruses can be carried on shoes or clothing. For this reason, we do not allow general access to view puppies or older dogs casually.
If you are unwell on the day of your visit, especially with a virus, we ask that you cancel your appointment and arrange either a video call or a visit the following weekend instead. I personally have three autoimmune diseases, which makes me more vulnerable to becoming seriously unwell from viruses. If I become ill, it impacts my ability to care for the puppies. We therefore ask for your understanding and consideration.
If I am unwell on the day of your visit, Darryl will conduct the appointment and visits will still go ahead.
Our Visit Process
During the visit, we complete some of the paperwork to make collection day quicker and easier.
We have a toilet in the hallway that you are welcome to use — it is labelled “The Loo.” Please do not enter the main house, as our large Bracco may be loose behind the internal doors. He is very loud and can appear intimidating.
We have video cameras inside and outside the property, all of which record movement.
All puppy visits take place in our puppy room outside. It is a lovely garden room with a sofa, and a puppy pen is set up for each visit.
Visits to our home last approximately 1 hour. Please remember that we may have appointments before and after yours, so we ask that you arrive on time and are courteous to other families who have booked their own time slots.
We also offer video call appointments for those who live far away or prefer not to travel twice. Video calls usually last around 10 minutes.
Collection and Ongoing Updates
Puppies are ready to leave for their new homes at 8 weeks of age. If we are asked to keep a puppy longer than this, we charge £35 per day from the following day onwards.
I take weekly photos and send video updates where possible. I do this in my own time, so occasionally I may run a day or two behind. Please understand that repeatedly asking for pictures will not make them arrive any faster.
Children at Visits
Children are welcome to attend puppy visits. However, if your children expect to take the puppy home that day, it is your responsibility to prepare them for the fact that they cannot. For safety reasons, children are not allowed to walk around holding puppies. We ask them to sit on the floor while cuddling the puppies so there is no risk of dropping them.
Security and Safety
Around 8 years ago, we experienced dog thieves, and we have never forgotten it. We received excellent advice from the police, which we continue to follow. This may differ from what some people expect when visiting a breeder.
We do not allow anyone to drop in without a prior appointment. We do not arrange visits simply for people to meet the dogs if they are not genuinely considering a puppy. We take personal details before scheduling a visit, and there is always more than one adult on site during appointments.
Our Standards

We send you photographs weekly on the development and growth of your puppies. But we can not be pushed into sending extra photos or photos if we have missed a day. We do photos just as and when we get the time, and our priority is caring for. puppy not taking photos.
We reserve the right not to sell a puppy to anyone we are not comfortable with. We also reserve the right to refund a deposit and decline a sale if we feel a buyer is unsuitable or difficult to deal with.
Anyone displaying abusive behaviour or inappropriate conduct will be reported, and no puppy will be sold.
We will not sell a puppy to anyone who is banned from keeping animals..

GUARANTEE
I am being asked more often now whether we offer a guarantee, so I felt it was important to address this.
I discussed this with my vet, as it has come up several times. His response was that no one can guarantee the lifelong health of any dog, because dogs are living animals. In truth, we cannot even guarantee the lifelong health of humans, so guaranteeing the health of a dog for life is simply not possible.
Over the years, I have also been let down by breeders myself, so I understand why buyers ask this question. Because of that, we have decided that the best and most responsible approach is to ensure that our puppies have the best possible start in life through careful health testing before they leave us.
We carry out health testing on our breeding dogs to help reduce the risk of certain inherited conditions, such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and eye diseases where relevant. DNA testing is especially valuable, as it looks directly at genetic markers, and we always ensure that we complete the appropriate health tests for each breed.
This does not mean that any breeder can promise a dog will never develop a health problem, but it does mean we are doing everything we reasonably can to improve the chances of breeding healthier puppies.
Unfortunately, there are still some conditions affecting dogs for which no DNA test currently exists. If such tests were available and relevant to our breeds, we would absolutely use them. We keep up to date with developments in canine health, and as soon as new tests become available, we assess whether they apply to our breeds and whether they should be added to our health screening programme.
Our promise is simple: we will always do our utmost for our dogs and for every puppy we breed.

WHAT IS AN ENDORSEMENT?
(R) Progeny endorsement - This endorsement is placed on KC documents to stop breeding from your dog. It protects bloodlines, and stops people with no knowledge breeding.
It can be lifted by us the breeder but we only do this for homes we know already who show dogs.
But a separate contract is done. To give you some security we will lift the endorsement later and for us also that you will meet our terms.
If you wish to buy a puppy to learn about the breed with potentially breeding in the end you will enter into a different contract. We will require you to show the dog.
(X) Export endorsement - I generally do not place these on documents. This just stops an export certificate being issued. This stops people selling dogs to Europe for breeding purposes.
