Description of Birdie
Birdie has had 1 litter in summer of 2024, 1 litter in April 2026, and we hope to have a final litter from Birdie in 2027/28.
Birdie has the most beautiful head an expression as you can see from the photo above.
Birdie came into our lives and we did not realise she would be staying. She went off to her new home at 8 weeks and came back a week later as her owners son couldn't cope with the noise and it triggered his epilepsy. So she came back to us and I realised why on earth find her a home when she was so perfect. She settled in so quick as to her she had not even settled into the next home. She just didn't look back and she was meant to stay. She was one of the easier puppies in the litter, and I knew she had that special something. Lots of people say they could not imagine giving up a puppy, but I got on so well with the owners, that I gave them an adult French bulldog instead because they wanted a dog but needed a quieter kind of dog. They now own Ronnie who's a perfect fit to their little family. Barking and noise from a young Vizsla is always deafening and no-one could have predicted it triggering epilepsy in their son. But Im glad it worked out for them in the end, as they now have their perfect companion dog and best friend to the children in Ronnie. Some families I get on with so well, that I really try to help to the best of my ability.
Temperament is everything. Birdie is exceptional and such a happy girl. She gets this from her father. Everyone falls in love with birdie. We never showed Birdie, but quite honestly we could have done as she is constructed lovely. But as I say we really cant show them all. Bird is a home girl thats for sure, sofa queen and its great to see my girls doing their job with is great companionship to us.
I have to say Birdie is one of the easiest dogs to take out anywhere with us. She love the woods and beaches. She's good as gold in the car and she is so well behaved on the lead and just walks beside us. Just love this dog.
Birdie is half sister to Candy and the two live together. Birdie took Candy under her paw when she was just small. Candy and Birdie get on so well with each other. I can sure see the family resemblance between the two of them.
Birdie is that Vizsla that is not satisfied with one blanket. She is that Vizsla that likes TEN BLANKETS. I call her princess and the pea dog, which if some of you older generation will remember the lady bird book, Princess and the pea.
The Vizsla is a breed that likes to bury themselves under blankets. Warmth, cosy, snuggly and sweet is my description of Birdie. I may even use some of the same words when describing my dogs because Im looking for key pointers in their behaviour. Because I live with my dogs 24/7. Unless Im on holiday then my son takes over. Easy dogs to look after. This means for you that we are selectively breeding excellent family pets. Not highly strung imported bloodlines.
Birdie is a very pretty Vizsla, You can see that from the photo above. She is the daughter of Indie and Rogue. Rogue lives with Hilary just down the road to me, and she had wanted an older dog and had wanted a Vizsla for some years. I have even gone and had coffee with Rogue and it's nice to know shes just down the road. Rogue is the sister to Izzy who Joshua our son owns. They are older dogs now in their twighlight years. Izzy has a white face now. Izzy and Rogue were the daughters of the best Vizsla in the world, called Chilli. He was my very special boy who became my first English show champion. I had made up dogs in Europe with owners scattered all over the place, but my first English show champion. Birdies daddy is Indie and he is an International Champion, Switzerland Show champion, Belgium show champion.
I think Birdie took looks more from her dad than her mum, but I can see her mum in her. She is like a feminine Indie in looks, and she has that happy attitude. You can take her anywhere, the pub, the beach and shes happy. But I do often put a coat on her as she gets chilly with the winds.
Since Birdie has her first litter she has a crate to herself now as Willow who she shared a bed with likes to be with Candy now. Birdie also has a crate in our side of the house. We have two houses split in two and the are joined by the large dog room so both houses can get to the dogs. My son and his fiancee live one side and we live the other. The dogs have the best of all worlds as they have hoomins who look after them and care for every need. Birdie has a crate in our lounge which she loves, and she gets on the sofa with Geralt. She is rather privileged.
Birdie is not a big Vizsla, as I have said she is feminine, and she is lighter boned than others. When she curls up into a ball she is tiny. She loves going out, and in winter yes she needs a coat on. Birdie is super friendly, and I never worry what she will do if a stranger dog will approach. She ignores them mainly. If you go to a pub though bring a piece of vet bed lol, as she doesn't like putting her bottom on a cold floor. (Spoilt). Nothing phases her.
Birdie has an excellent Russet Gold coat, and a lovely dark eye colour. Birdie is very clever and picks up something quickly. In fact quicker than most here.
Birdie is raw fed, and she will eat pretty much everything, but she doesnt really like chicken carcass. She eats minces of variety. She likes Turkey and tripe, Chicken and Tripe, Duck, Lamb and so on. She has a varied diet which is important to make sure she gets all the nutrients possible from her diet.
We have a routine which she knows inside out. She is let out for a wee, comes back in. Waits half an hour. Eats dinner. Goes for another wee walk. Not strenuous. Then 1 and half hours later she has a good run. This gives her time to rest from meat being in the stomach.
Birdie will run in water and swim but she cheats a lot of the time and waits for someone else to come back in to steal off them the ball, as I said clever.
I have a huge paddling pool in the summer time, and they are in an enclosed area so I have control when I cant be with them all the time, but....Birdie likes to come back inside. She thinks being out with the younger dogs is a bit of a bore. Because ive made the crate an enjoyable place to live in she really loves her home. She hates it when I clean it and it's all new blankets. They are usually clean what I take out and I sometimes think should I just leave them. But I am house proud so, sorry Birdie you've got to have nice clean new ones.
Birdie has a fab temperament with all the other dogs, and she is sweet as can be with puppies.
We have training sessions with her, but because it's not show training we just do basic obedience. It's not like she is that annoying dog that has to be constantly trained.
Birdies pedigree name came from the show on Netflix the Witcher with Henry Cavill. Law of surprise!
Birdie loves a ball, and is often first to get the ball. Plus she will bring it direct to hand. Some other dogs will run off in other direction with the ball but not birdie, she brings it back and runs around me then with a toss throws it at my feet, ready to go again. I rely on her to bring me the ball back now. She loves it when the summer grasses are tall, and if I throw it into the grass she will go looking for it. Birdie is good fun.
Birdie really enjoys her walks, but she equally loves being in the house. Birdie has a crate to sleep in, but you can leave the door open and she goes in. She is a sensible dog, honest dog. She can be previous at times over cold weather and has to wear a jumper.
Ive already been asked when will be breed Birdie again, literally she's just had her first litter. So in answer so I do not get more enquires. Birdie will have another litter with us but not for over a year. I like to rest my girls well, and to make sure they have had another season. Their body must go back into shape, and they must be fit and healthy. So at this stage I cant even think when the next one will be, as Birdie now will rest her body, and enjoy her life as being our family pet again for now.
I will be keeping a Birdie puppy on her third and final litter. But this is a way off because she has to have a second litter and we are waiting for her to come into season. She has yearly seasons. Come on Birdie we are waiting!
