ABOUT PEPPER
I thought it was about time I updated Pepper info as it all applied to her when she was younger.
Pepper belongs to Joshua and Darcy who adore her. She is their world along side their other dogs. They own Dodge a black Labrador, Izzy (9 years), who is Peppers mum and Letty who is a bracco Italiano. Their whole world is their dogs and horses. Darcy runs her own equestrian business and they both go to horse shows selling products through out the year. When they do I have their dogs and this time they're puppies to look after. The black Labrador is a working gun dog and goes on shoots regular through the season.
Joshua has been born into a breeding home. He used to get in the whelping box with my Weimaraners. Joshua also has a gift with animals which I have also. Animals respond to us in a different way to other people.
I rely on Joshua so much to help me with my dogs as we couldn't go out with out his help.
Pepper is a very sweet dog which was born to be a mother. She adores her puppies and she is so kind and gentle with them. She counts each one as she steps in the the whelping box. She is a house dog, and her puppies are also home reared. Pepper is always fun and up for a game with a ball which people will see when you visit. You can play with her and she will love it.
She has a fabulous temperament. Sometimes she will bark at strangers at the door just like any dog would do. Pepper is full of fun and games, and loves playing ball. She also has a kong frisbee. She is great fun to take anywhere as she lives for the moment.
Pepper is very well trained. She responds to Joshua and me if I give her a command. The one thing he always said was he cant stand dogs that aren't well behaved so he took her to training and did a lot with her himself. He also trained her to be steady and sit around horses, because he said her life depends on it. A dog running between horses legs could end up being kicked. So she sits at a distance and watches them. She is a very good girl.
Pepper was similar age to my Bracco Yennefer and they lived a lot together whilst Joshua was out working. I look after his dogs every day whilst he is busy. Yenna and Pepper have a special bond. Pepper is half sister to Ripley. So they have the same father but different mothers,
Pepper really has a lovely temperament and not a nasty bone in her body, She is a happy go lucky kind of dog.
As a judge I think it qualifies me to comment on construction on Pepper and I think she fits the breed standard very well. Shes that medium sized dog, great russet gold colour, but has the bone she should with a fabulous fore chest and depth of chest. Her top line is carried well and she carries her tail in the correct position, not. up and over the back. She should have been shown but with Covid it kind of took away those important years for Pepper. Plus Josh at that time didnt want to. We show Letty his bracco for him last year, and she is qualified for Crufts, as Letty came along after covid.
Josh always said pepper was not the easiest of puppies but she soon learnt through training and she picked up commands very quickly. Now she is mature you dont know she exists in the house. She is just chilled out eating a treat somewhere or asleep, until you say walks then she's up like a shot. She gets on well with all our dogs even the small ones. She is a great breeding asset for Josh. Although he prob wont have another litter with her. Josh breeds infrequently. Because they are away at horse shows once the season starts. So it's rare for a season to fit in with their plans. Joshua is keeping a puppy from Pepper this time.
Pepper loves food and lives for her treats. She is not a fussy eater. She can eat any type of food there is, and has no allergies to food.
As Pepper got older she became even more easy going. Most dogs do after the age of 3. As you can see from her photos she loves going out, and Josh will take her to the woods on his mountain bikes as his hobby is doing all the bike tracks. To which I say hes mad lol. Doing 20 miles on a bike is not my idea of fun. He only takes her on some trails because some serious bike enthusiasts dont like dogs on the tracks. So there are some he wont take her on. Also the speed they go he has to have control for her own safety.
Joshua and Darcy have a camper van which they take out with them around the country and they always have 2 dogs with them and sometimes leave me with 2. But they alternate who goes. They do horse shows through out the year and the dogs have to sit and be patient when they are selling joggers, leggings, hoodies and hats and so on.
From her first litter we are in contact with the owners and everyone is happy with their dogs.
I extend to all owners the same life time support to his dogs as mine because he shares my affix. Joshua is also named on our license to breed dogs. This is important because he like me does everything correct for the law on animals.
