Geri is now retired from breeding. Geri had 2 litters and we decided it was enough for her. We kept a bitch from her 1st litter.
In 2022, we were incredibly lucky to welcome Geri into our home — a very special girl and the last chance for us to keep a daughter from our much-loved Tango. Tango was mated to Flashpoint Anastasia (owned by Ruth Martin), and we received a puppy back from the litter. That puppy was Geri.
Geri may not have “Silvestre” in her registered name (because we didn’t breed her), but she is absolutely part of our hearts and our family. We’re also still in touch with her siblings’ families — including her sister, who stayed with Ruth, and “Ted,” who is adored in Blackpool. Once a Tango baby, always “one of ours.”
What is Geri like?
Geri is the definition of sweet, steady, and softly affectionate.
She’s not the sort to barge into a “rugby scrum” for the ball — she’s gentle, polite, and happy to let the others bounce around while she waits patiently like a little wise old soul. She seems to know what’s happening before it happens: dinner time, walk time, play time… she’s already there, calmly ready.
She’s also wonderfully easy — genuinely one of the easiest puppies we’ve ever raised — and as an adult she’s become the kind of dog that just fits into life beautifully.
If I had to sum her up in four words:CUDDLY • LAZY • VELCRO • EASY . PRETTY AND PROPER
Geri has a gorgeous russet-gold coat, a beautifully typical Vizsla look, and a strong, workmanlike build (which simply means she’s well put together and built to last the day). She has a lovely front, good feet, correct bite and dentition — and her eye colour is absolutely stunning. She’s also smaller than some, but sturdy and solid… like she’s been built for real life (and real cuddles).
Queen of comfort (and Fish TV)
Geri’s favourite place in the world is our little kitchen sofa — the “command centre” of the house — where she sits with my French Bulldog, Frooti, keeping an eye on everything.
We also have fish tanks, and Geri is a dedicated viewer of what I call FISH TV. She’ll sit and watch the fish like it’s the most relaxing show ever made.
And yes… she will also come and check on me in the bath. Quiet footsteps… a little head around the door… then Frooti appears too. They’re both convinced I need supervision at all times.
A truly lovely mum
Geri was a naturally nurturing mother — the kind, devoted type who doesn’t rush to hand the puppies over. We actually had a job persuading her to wean, because she loved them so much. She teaches gently too — usually with a look that says, “Excuse you, don’t do that.”
That calm, kind nature is exactly what we hope to see passed on to her puppies. Social, sensible, and well-mannered
Geri is happy to meet people, but she’s very much a “my person” dog — affectionate, loyal, and close. As a behaviourist, I’m careful about good manners: my dogs are lead-trained in public, taught recall early, and they’re not allowed to pester others. Geri learned quickly and has always been a straightforward, sensible girl.
She travels brilliantly in the car and loves outings — woods, riverbanks, beaches… as long as she can come home afterwards for a snooze.
Cat approved
Geri is also great with cats. We recently lost our cat Rizelle after 12 years, and we now have Gabby, a British Blue who rules the house. Gabby and Geri happily share space (and sometimes even the sofa).
Not a hunter… a sofa champion
I’ll be honest: Geri is not a hardcore hunting type — she’s more of a professional cuddler. If there was a trophy for Sofa Queen, she’d have it engraved already. That said, her lines include good workers, and in her first litter one pup is doing well in a picking-up/retrieving sort of home, while another lives the hiking life every weekend.
Any “bad points”? Truly… I cannot think of any.
She doesn’t chew what she shouldn’t.She doesn’t roll in fox poo like some of her relatives.She’s just… easy.
Her one weakness is food. She loves it. All of it. So we do have to watch her weight — but plenty of people would love a dog who isn’t fussy and eats happily.
