Welcome to Geri's Page.
Geri is coming up to 3 years of age now and she has recently had her first litter of puppies. We have kept Silvestre Plumb hollow from this breeding. Geri was a fantastic mother and her gentle personality sure passed onto her offspring. It was a great litter with many show quality puppies in the litter. Which means Geri is a good producer. Her next litter will be after 12 months from the first litter.
Geri is my cuddle bunny, and she is hard to photograph as she is a true velcro dog and the moment you aim the camera she is at my feet trying to get inside my skin and I can not get a photo. She is a funny dog. Geri is sweet, gentle, and a very easy going dog. She has no working instinct and prefers to be a couch potato. She has a habit though of pushed her feet out when asleep and pushes darryl off nearly lol! But we have also a sofa in the dining room area and she will get on here, and if I lay down she will curl her whole body around mine and we both go to sleep. I say she is sending me healing and I send her healing. She knows when Im not well.
Geri lives in our lounge as she likes the sofa, and she is as good as gold. We also have a dog crate in the lounge with door open and Geri and Ripley have the run of the lounge with the French bulldogs and Geralt our Bracco. Their crate has several thick mattress blankets, and I call them my princess and the pea girls. Those of you who remember lady bird books will remember Princess and the pea. They also have inside their crate a big orange octopus, which is not allowed to be taken by any other dog. Ripley and Geri are half sisters, and they are like twins and they act like sisters. They groom each others ears, revolting when one decides to lick the ear wax out of the other! PUKE! They have a great bond together.
She has the correct colour Russet Gold coat, and Ive had her LH tested which means she doesn't carry the long hair gene.
Geri was bred by Ruth Martin Velcrozy affix, and her mums bloodline was bred by the late Gill Belton called Flushpoint. Which was a working and showing bloodline. We all knew Gill well. Ruth used our dog at the time called Tango and she produced 7 I think. I forget so easily. We had the pick of the litter instead of a stud fee. We collected Geri on the way back from one of our holidays in the Lake District, and she settled in very quickly as Ruth did a fab job with raising her babies.
Geri is on the smaller side of the height breed standard and she is 21" to withers. She is moderate in size, and has correct bone for her stature. She has that super fore chest bone required which rounds into the depth of brisket to elbow. She stands square naturally and has straight limbs, and no turned out feet. When standing in the paddock she looks a picture. Her elegant outline is just beautiful. Geri is not docked as we do not really like to have docked dogs, and her tail is quite thick. Which is good as she wont damage it.
Geri is not one for ball playing as the others run so fast and she does not like to be bumped into. So she leaves them to charge around after the ball and she potters in and around the paddock. Geri can swim well also and enjoys water, but as we say she likes the sofa more. As she likes to be warm, and swimming is cold work. Her best friend with all the dogs and plays all the time is Lane. Those two are thick as thieves together, as they are similar ages. Lane and Geri just gel well. They play cat and mouse games and spring into the air and run around having zooms entertaining themselves. Geris had some lovely toys in the past but the Bracco youngsters have currently trashed them.
Although she loves to get inside my skin she is not that needy, so will go and sleep on the sofa in the kitchen watching me. She will also get on top of the crate in a little basket and curl up and sleep. She reminds me of our cat when she does it. You can not get a better temperament than our Geri. We hope to keep a daughter from her unless there are not enough. But we are looking to keep one from Frodo and Geri.
I have extensively health tested Geri and she is clear of everything, plus her hips and elbows are good. We use the Australian Scheme BVA. Which is identical the UK one except cheaper and quicker results. We would never use the UK system now. During covid it was quite a shambles getting any results back. The Australian scheme is not recorded on a public database for you to read. The results are not lodged with our Kennel club. We hold the certificates which you are welcome to view when you visit. We do not send our certificates to anyone. We know so many who have had their details stolen.
