Silvestre Bracco - This breed has a real part of our hearts. Superb dogs if you know how to handle them. Gentle mannered, happy to chill out but also ready to run. The Bracco heritage was a real working hunting dog and has the strongest hunting instinct of many gun dogs. It makes them difficult to own if you do not have excellent recall in. As they are unlike other gun dogs in that respect. Their large noses are designed to draw in scent, and off they go. Not for the faint hearted. I always stress to everyone the training of these dogs should start just before 16 weeks of age and continue up to 2 years. I get people say to me but you walk your dogs off the lead in the woods and beaches, and yes I do as I have full recall. If I did not train my dogs early on Im sure they would be like the rest of their ancestors. So remember this is a HUNT breed, and they are happiest in the outside hunting.
