ALL ABOUT TANGO
Tango is now retired from the show ring after proving himself to be a worthy dog of quality by winning a CC (Challenge certificate), in the UK at Paignton Champshow and Best of breed. Plus becoming an International champion in Europe. I would like to thank people who helped us achieve such great wins. Melissa finch who took Tango to Europe on many occasions to start him on his journey. Steve Palmer who showed Tango in the UK when he was a youngster. Tango as a youngster did so well everywhere he went, but sadly one day he knocked a tooth out of his gum as he hit a tree. I got a letter from the vets to state it was an injury and the Kennel club said carry on showing him, but carry a letter if a judge wishes to see it. As dogs can be born with out teeth which is a fault, but we had a genuine injury. In Europe they accept injuries more than the UK and this is why we went to Europe and show him. Also it was so exciting for us to suddenly learn about new show titles, and we really got bitten by the bug of showing abroad so much we have shown more there than the UK now. I handled him to win his UK CC and also Darryl handled him in Europe when he won his international title. Melissa won the most with Tango gaining 4 CACIB for us. Tango has won also numerous Reserve CAC and R.CACIB all over Europe and he has several other CAC and CACIB in other countries too. WE could of continued and become a champion of holland but Tango got a bit tired of showing, and it became obvious that he had done his best and now he wanted to rest. We have to remember always its the dogs life and welfare thats the most important, and we have to listen to our pets and know when to retire them.
Tango is no longer available for stud to anyones bitches but our own. He is a very fertile dog, and will be used on our own bitches in the future.
Tango was bred by the lovely sophie burden who lives in Cornwall. Her affix is Karaszy and I loved her whole knowledge on the breed. I know she is as proud of Tango as we are, and she used Tango at stud herself on a girl, and one boy went to Russia and became a Russian Champion, and is a working dog in Russia.
Tango also sired a bitch in the UK owned by Cheryl and Graeme Sutherland and she was shown in Europe and became an International champion and belgium champion and also won her UK stud book number from Open class.
Their are other offspring in the ring from tango, who have done extremely well also and are still shown in the UK, and one dog is now shown in Europe on occasion.
Tango is a smaller type Vizsla but has bone which I like to see, as a gun dog should always have strength to work. Their seems a current trend in pet breeders to produce poor looking Vizsla. We must be mindful that what we breed today will shape the breed in years to come. Just because you own a pet bitch doesn't mean you should seek out cheap and inferior stud dogs from the well known sales website. Tango has an excellent front and good fore chest bone and depth of chest. Not seen in many Vizsla. He improved front construction on the bitchs we kept from him. The chest should reach the elbow in a Vizsla, and this means the dog has good lung capacity and in a nutshell healthier. We want to improve fitness of dog breeds that we own, and understanding of construction is the only way you can do this.
Tango is a Vizsla who is very soft natured in the home, very quiet and loveable. Just chills out and sits on the sofa all day long. But outside is a different dog. He springs to life and is ball obsessed, which I understand his father was too. He takes his ball everywhere with him, as he has got older however he shares his ball very nicely with other dogs, where as before he would worry about someone having his ball. Now he's becoming older, more chilled out about the whole ball throwing.
Tango is a deeper shade of Russet Gold, he is a smaller dog as he is 22-23" to withers. He is very muscular, and not an inch of fat on his body anywhere to be seen. He loves water, in fact he would swim all day long so long as his ball was chucked in. He has the futaki horns and you can see a photo below of his horns, which if you read a past blog of mine it tells you all about them. An old lineage of Vizsla which inherited the horns. Others call them good luck. Others a great hunting line. We all have our favourite story about the horns. He has about 3 in total. One on either side of the ear and another inside the ear, and he passes that onto a lot of his offspring.
Tango is brilliant with all my dogs, and all my little dogs, you can see a photo below of him sniffing the frenchies. He sits and cleans them too. He thinks that he is their protector, its so sweet actually to see. Tango doesn't have a best friend to play with as he is independent, where as some of my others get favourites and tangos favourite is the ball. His only downfall is he would go off with anyone as he is soft as butter. Where as my other dogs wouldn't go off with anyone they would question why. Tango is excellent with our grandson also. A very kind dog, excellent temperament, which is what we want to see.
Not all show wins are recorded.
