Hello and welcome
We are very proud to introduce our dogs through our website. My name is Mrs Rachel Savage Dip CBT, and together with my husband Darryl, we are the owners of the Silvestre Show Dogs team.
Our Kennel Club–registered affix, Silvestre, was granted many years ago and represents our long-standing commitment to pedigree dogs. We are fully licensed, holding a 5-star breeding licence with our local council.
All of our dogs are home reared and live as part of our family. We are fortunate to have a large home with a dedicated dog room for our adult dogs—no dog is ever kept outside in kennels. Our puppies are raised in our lounge and spare room, allowing them to experience normal household life from the very beginning.
I am a qualified canine behaviourist and offer free behavioural advice for four weeks after puppies leave us. This support is invaluable to new owners and helps ensure a smooth transition into their new homes.
We are preservation breeders, meaning we are dedicated to protecting and maintaining centuries-old pedigree bloodlines. We do not mix breeds and only selectively breed from fit, healthy parents that meet the Kennel Club breed standard. We are experienced breeders, and I am at home full-time with our dogs, ensuring they receive constant care and attention.
Our home is set within four acres of paddocks, giving our dogs a wonderful quality of life with space to explore, play, and relax.
We breed Bracco Italiano and Hungarian Vizsla puppies. In addition, we own three pet French Bulldogs, including one female who may potentially have a litter in the future to preserve her bloodline.
All puppies are home reared with a strong focus on enrichment and early development. We believe in giving our puppies the very best start in life. We have references not only from puppy owners, but also from professionals who have visited our home to collect puppies. During their first eight weeks, we give them everything we possibly can, so they leave us as confident, well-rounded puppies—your perfect blank canvas.
Our puppies are introduced to a house-training routine from an early age. Many are already well on their way, and some are fully house trained by eight weeks. What they learn with us is quickly reinforced once they settle into their new homes.
All parent dogs that we own undergo comprehensive health testing, including DNA testing, X-rays, and eye examinations—well above Kennel Club recommendations.
Over the years, my dedication to dogs has led me to complete numerous courses and qualifications. These include canine first aid, microchipping, behaviour, health seminars, Kennel Club judging seminars, animal care and welfare, and dog grooming, as well as NVQ Levels 2 and 3. This lifelong education allows me to offer informed, qualified advice to every puppy owner.
Dogs have been my life, and understanding their development is essential to ensuring every puppy’s needs are met. I continue to learn every day—something any true dog person will understand. Responsible breeding takes a lifetime of experience and mentorship, particularly from the traditional stock-men breeders within the show world.
In light of the poor reputation dog breeders often face in the UK, we are committed to standing apart through strong principles and clear goals. We carefully study bloodlines and never breed without purpose. We do not import dogs blindly; we fully understand and research the bloodlines we introduce. Every breeding is done with the Kennel Club breed standard firmly in mind.
The vast majority of our puppies are placed in loving pet homes. We are not seeking show or working homes; our priority is family homes where dogs are truly part of daily life—curled up by the fire and included in everything. We do not sell puppies to homes where dogs are kept permanently in kennels.
Our adult dogs live in our home, enjoy our gardens during the day, and relax on sofas or in crates at night, depending on their age and needs.
We are deeply committed to our dogs’ welfare. We firmly believe that the more care and thought put into breeding, the healthier the dogs will be.
While we enjoy showing our dogs, rosettes and trophies are never what define them. Showing simply confirms that a dog is worthy of breeding from. What truly matters is sharing our lives with them—nothing compares to evenings spent on the sofa with our dogs, and most show people feel the same way.
Temperament is non-negotiable for us. Any dog with a poor temperament is never bred from. As temperament can be inherited or learned, our dogs must be excellent in every aspect. A champion title means nothing if a dog is not a pleasure to live with.
We are highly knowledgeable in canine nutrition and feed a varied, high-quality raw diet, which is reflected in our dogs’ excellent skin and coat condition. Our dogs rarely require veterinary treatment due to careful management, minimal use of flea treatments, wormers, and vaccines, and a preference for titre testing and holistic care. All of our dogs undergo yearly veterinary health checks.

Puppies available sometimes from health tested parents.
We are fortunate to work with some of the finest bloodlines from dogs around the world, originating from well-known and highly respected breeders who have gone before us. It has been a privilege to work alongside these breeders and to continue their exceptional lines. I am also proud to mentor new breeders entering our breeds and seeking guidance—this is how true knowledge is passed on. Social media alone cannot replace the depth of understanding required to breed responsibly and well.
We do not always breed solely to show lines. From time to time, we introduce a steady working line to preserve the breed’s true heritage. We carefully avoid bloodlines which are known to be more difficult for family homes. We only consider a dog for breeding If they demonstrate correct construction and sound temperament.
Our puppy owners have much to say about how happy they are with their Silvestre puppies. When you buy a puppy from us, you become part of our extended family. Owners are always willing to share tips, advice, and everyday experiences. Support is always available when needed—though rest assured, we will never hound you if it isn’t.
Our puppies leave us with carefully chosen goodies because we genuinely care. I am often told that people have never experienced such dedication from a breeder before, which is very kind and much appreciated.
We go the extra mile by sending each puppy home with a health certificate. While veterinarians are invaluable, they do not always have in-depth knowledge of every breed—particularly the Bracco Italiano. Please take note of any guidance we provide, as it is based on specialist, breed-specific experience.
I am with the puppies 24/7, as breeding is my full-time commitment. This allows me to give them constant care and begin early learning. I never leave our puppies with strangers; if I need to go out, they remain with my son and his fiancée. I would not keep dogs if I could not raise them in this way—it is personal, family-focused, and, above all, what the dogs deserve.
Our adult dogs are worm counted to ensure they are free from internal parasites.
Contacting Me
I am not always easy to reach, as I do not carry my mobile phone at all times. The best way to contact me is by text at around 10:30 am, after which I will reply and arrange a call at a time that suits us both. I do not take evening calls.
I have fibromyalgia, and anyone familiar with ME and chronic fatigue will understand that energy levels can drop significantly later in the day. For this reason, I limit myself to two phone appointments per day. If I am showing, weekends are usually unavailable, though you are always welcome to text and check if I am free.
Instagram & TikTok
You can follow us on Instagram @silvestre.showdogs for regular, up-to-date photos. You are also welcome to message me there for a chat.
We are on TikTok at @silvestreshowdogs, where we share fun videos of our dogs at play. You will see that they are very much part of the family and enjoy being the centre of attention. The dog you’ll see most often is probably Geralt—he goes everywhere with me. He is my soul dog and an incredible support dog, as well as a much-loved family member.
