Vespa is a Yennefer baby and Yenna was the first Bracco I owned.  Vespas blood line Is the braccorion which is Emma Towns blood line.  
Vespa is orange and white but she will carry Chestnut and if we mate her to Chestnut she will produce both colours.  We plan on mating her spring 2025 to our Eddie who is a chestnut and we will have both colours available.   We welcome show home enquiries as well as pet and working. 

Vespa does not carry the tri colour gene. Ive had her colour tested.   Vespa is hip scored with an excellent even score.   There are no required health tests in the Bracco Italiano. But we believe in doing the hips as a priority. 

Vespa is gentle, loving and kind. She is a fab dog to take anywhere as she is happy to be with us.  Vespa has been to Cornwall and the Lake District.  She also goes out to the woodlands and local beaches with us.  

As a puppy Vespa was the cutest puppy I had ever seen, that lovely short nose and chocolate box appeal, I couldnt believe she was all mine as I couldnt take my eye off her.  Her sister Letty as there was just one other girl I gave to my son Joshua as he had fallen head of heels in love with the breed.  So we had both girls in the family.   As an adult her head piece is just so typical of the breed with that beautiful long roman nose. With large spongy nose at the end. Kind eyes and just all round scrummy!

As a puppy both girls were a bit drooly in the car and you can see photos below of them in their bibs.  But this soon stopped and now I can take the girls anywhere in the UK and they just sit happy.  Key to this is letting them sit in the car with out the engine running. This soon stopped with them and we were able to take them the length and breadth of the UK with no drool. Also in the house they do not drool at all.  I own a male called Geralt and he dribbles and drools everywhere and youll even see it on the ceiling. But he does not drool in the car.  As a breed they are notorious for drooling. But the more dewlap they have the more likely they are to drool.  Vespa does have a small dewlap so this is probably why she does not drool.    

Vespa is a dog which loves to sit and look out of the window.  In a daze sometimes watching birds flying about.  She has a working instinct when out but I have never trained her to pick up game.  Unlike her sister who does pick up game if shot.  Letty has been trained by Josh to pick up birds.  The Bracco has this natural retrieving instinct and when they soon learn what they are to do they pick it up like it's natural to them.  

Everyone who owns the breed knows they are a breed which will run off. But not Vespa, she has perfect recall and keeps close to me in the forests. She wants me more than life itself so this makes her an obedient dog.   Vespa will swim if she has too, but she doesn't like the water too cold, so will stand on the side lines waiting for another sucker to retrieve for her.  But in the summer she will take herself into the water for a swim.  I laugh and say she is too intelligent for her own good as she knows if it's cold or hot and does what is best for her.

Vespa loves a bath but it has to be hot water.  She will turn and look at me if the water is not warm enough. She loves nothing better than to have a bath as I tell her she smells lovely.  She's not a huge roller in poop as some dogs can be which im grateful for.  As nothing worse than getting back off a walk and having to them bath several dogs.  

I liken Vespa to a lioness who sits and looks so proud of herself in life.  She was an excellent mother to her first litter and she raised them very well teaching them all she could.  I was so impressed with the way she raised them and the owners have been in contact telling me how wonderful they are.  Even some were previous bracco owners and said their dogs from us were far more socialised, far more confident and far exceeded expectations. Which was lovely to hear. It means we did a good job with them.  So we hope to mate Vespa for her second and final time to Eddie this time, so we get two different colours in the litter.  This helps then when we get enquiries as we can help far more people.   

Vespa qualified for Crufts 2023/4/5 but we have decided we wont do Crufts show this year and she could be pregnant.  It is not ideal to take bitches who are mated to shows as they can loose them all too quickly with stress from the show or virus and bacterias.   Experience has taught me that they need wrapping in cotton wool.  It is but a dog show. 

Vespa is so kind and loving.  Is not aware of personal space and would get inside my skin. They talk of Vizsla being the only velcro dog, well clearly they aren't Bracco owners.  The Bracco loves nothing more than to be with you all the time.  Vespa is so sweet and calm. Everyone says they have never seen such a calm dog before.  This comes down to early social skills and just letting them be part of the family. 

Vespa did obedience training as a pup and she did ring craft training for the show ring.  She has done so well at shows we are proud of her. Winning classes from puppy to post grad. Her last show she got a 3rd in the big girls class. 

Vespa is raw fed as we believe. Braccos should be naturally raised with no vaccine, and given a quality diet of raw natural foods.  The reason is skin issues in the breed.  They are a breed which naturally will get skin issues due to their huge amount of elastic skin they have.  My girls have no skin issues because of the way they are reared.   Quality diets are proteins, offal and bone with fruits.  Vespa thrives and looks a picture of health on her diet.  Every morning Vespa has natural treats which she loves. 

I am aware I have not updated Vespas page with photos from 2024.  So I will endeavour to find them on my phone and start adding.  As she is all grown up now.

Critique From Judge: Silvestre Destiny is a Beast. I loved her! She has the bone and substance that I like and combines it with a noble almost square appearance.  Deep chest, moderately short and well rounded neck and a typical topline. Her head is lovely and well chiselled.  She moves so very well in typical Bracco style. Sympathetically handed. Christine Morgan.
