A reminder this week that my friends photos have been stolen and used in advertising of puppies that do not exist, and fake instagram/Facebook pages.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen up. Do not buy puppies through social media. EVER! Social media is a fun way of looking at dogs. But do your research and see what kind of back ground your breeder has. DONT SEND money to anyone with out there being a good paper trail of existence that the breeder is real. Kennel club assured breeders under go checks as do licensed breeders. Ask to see certificates if you are worried. Just do not buy through a photo online, and people will chat too. you via social media and make you think they are real people. We have had our photos stolen online and used in advertising and as soon as we report it, they made a new page again using our photos again. Remember you're only buying a Silvestre puppy if it comes from us directly. We do not use third party sales. We do not use agents. We do not rent out bitches. We do not deliver. If you see delivery only walk away.

Autumn is now upon us with the nights drawing in, and winter around the corner.
Clocks go back in another couple of weeks. What does that mean for dog owners? Dogs do not understand that clocks are going back, and will be in the same routine as normal. In the next two weeks it is advisable if you're feeding at a certain time to alter feeding time by 15 minutes so that when you change the clocks the dog will be used to new times. Remember if you're feeding raw food, dogs require more energy in the winter times. When they are running about outside when it's cold, they will use up energy stores, fat stores and suddenly your dog is going thinner and you do not know why. We increase our dogs protein content during the winter months. All our dogs are fed twice a day. If you are doing something really active with your dog like working the dog, you may want to spread the meals out to 3, and increase food. But don't feed just before you run the dog as dogs which have deep chests are more prone to bloat. You may have to give a feed at 10pm to give a third meal if the dog wants. It's better to have three spread out meals than two massive ones. Give the dogs coats good chances through diet to be healthy during the winter times. Bitches benefit from oil of primrose every day. There are so many products on the market to give good healthy coats. Coconut oil, omega three oils, kelp powder and fresh foods. House dogs can have baths when they are smelly. Kennel dogs no, because they need the oils in their coats to keep dry and warm. My Wuss gang Vizsla are already roasting their bodies in a room with a log burner going. All my dogs go to sleep around 6.30pm and don't want to go out again, but we tell them to have a wee late at night, even though most dont want to go out later. Lazy feckers! They genuinely love their room with beds and crates and happy to be there. We have two dogs that are Braccos that want to be outside all the time, during the day they refuse to come in, as they love being in the yard. But come 6pm and the air starts to get colder they are then begging to get in the house ha ha. They sure know what they want. In winter times you see less fleas and ticks. But use your deterrents just the same. We may have icy mornings now. Remember do not chuck balls into water if there is ice. Or if it's a cold day as it can be a big shock to dogs to dive into freezing cold water. When the roads get icy gritters put salt down. Remember salt is a poison to dogs, so if you do walk your dog down a pathway with salt, wash the feet as soon as you get home and dry. If your dogs legs are getting messy from mud after walks we use a Mud Daddy. It looks like a petrol can but we put inside warm water and it has a pump and brush end. We can wash the legs down. Now this is advisable even more so if you live in an area where dogs have died from seasonal disorders. It is thought that a mite may be the cause. But dogs die from kidney failure and develop sores on their legs. I would invest in a mud daddy if you live say in the New forrest, Sandringham or other ares this has been recorded. Wash the dogs legs down every day if you walk in these areas. Even using a smidge of bacterial wash. It maybe worth investing now in a good fleece to keep your dog warm if it gets cold. Some Vizsla do not need a coat and just them running around is good enough to keep them warm. But if you own a dog which doesnt run about much, or sits a lot on walks, shivers then you need a coat. We recommend equafleece coats. Dogs do not need pyjamas ! We keep seeing Vizsla owners in central heated homes putting PJ on their dogs at bed time. They are not human children, they are dogs. If you get them so hot in the house when they go out they wont feel the benefit of the coat. Most homes are hot! If you own an elderly dog and leave it in a cold room then yes put a coat on the dog at night. If we go away in cold weather and stay in a caravan our dogs come inside and are boiling hot. But if you go away in a camper van or caravan and your keeping the dog in a crate in the awning then put some pyjamas on and a few blankets inside the crate too so the dog can bury itself in them. I think my dogs would die if I told them they would sleep outside in the winter ha ha. Our dogs sleep on the sofas in the caravan and are such well behaved dogs. Hiya Silvestre Owners
I have just added a new weekly guide in our Silvestre owners access page in training. Ive tried to think of step by step things you need to think about each week up to 11 weeks of age. I also am in the process of writing another article to add soon. Rachel Maverick travelled with Rachael to Ireland at the weekend, and Im grateful for her help. Maverick won 2 Reserve Green Stars and 1 Reserve CACIB. This result was awesome.
Maverick will be travelling to Belgium 2023 and other countries. He is old enough now to start his show campaign abroad. We hope for great things for Maverick over the coming years. We will show him ourselves at some shows and others we will have the help of Rachael and Scarlett. A huge thank you to those ladies who are helping us campaign our boy. It says something about a dogs temperament when you can let them go with others to a show. He has a very sound temperament. Maverick is qualified for Crufts 2024, and he has 1 more UK championship show to do this year. I have been asked a lot in the last two weeks if we plan a Vizsla litter in 2024. The answer is yes, but I can not give you exact dates yet. We find Vizsla unpredictable when their seasons will come, Ive got one girl for example that was 14 months between seasons, then suddenly had one 5 months later. So we can only give slight guidelines. We always let our girls have a season in-between litters and a 12 month gap. This restores their body mind and soul as I say.
Pepper is owned by Joshua Savage and he is breeding her on her next season. Her season is due November 2023. He is mating her to Maverick. Joshua has an interest in our affix which means they will be bred under our affix, and he also has a breeding license. The puppies will be top quality and Im quite interested to see what she produces with Maverick. He has to breed her winter time due to commitments with work during the summer time. The pups will be reared exactly the same way any Silvestre puppy is, with love, cuddles and home raised. Im very proud of Joshuas knowledge as he has learnt everything he knows from me. Proud mother! Peppers last litter was early 2022 I hope to breed in 2024 2 of my girls, Lane and Birdie. Lane is due in season approx December 2023 and I shall mate her to Maverick. She is a very chilled out easy going dog to own with the sweetest temperament you could wish for. Rougshoot Vizsla have mated two bitches and if you want Sharons details I can pass them onto you. We are nearly to the end of our showing for the year as we have commitments else where
Great Yarmouth and Gorleston open show I was not feeling very well on the day so left several dogs at home and just took Nancy our Bracco puppy. She was exactly six months on the day and was 3rd in puppy class. I was very pleased with her in the ring and she floated around. The star of the day was her brother Melman. He was 1st in puppy class and Best puppy. Also got a Junior warrant point on the day also. We are hugely proud of him and his pedigree name is Silvestre Stolen Kiss, we shall look forward to more results to come as Im sure he has a wonderful show career ahead of him. Sunday was the Hungarian Vizsla Championship show and we took 3 dogs and they were all 3rd in their class. All crufts qualifying places. This qualified Maverick for Crufts 2024. We hoped to get a 3rd with him and we did, so I was thrilled. All I have to do is now qualify Nancy and we have a champ show for her in October. You can let them stare at Silvestre - Roman (BRACCO ITALIANO)
Roman went to Sheringham open show and was 1st Puppy and Best puppy. Sadly we couldn't stop for the group. But a big Thankyou to Bracco judge Helen Sutton for. thinking highly of Roman. In the world we live in, our pets can come into contact with so much. the shorter coated breeds skin comes in contact more than longer coated of course it makes common sense. In some respects its great because we know the moment our dogs got hives or bites. But the down side is being short coated its more likely to have a reaction as the hair hasn't stopped the touching of the skin.
Now with every short coated breed of dog the way to help if its having a reaction to an insect or plant is antihistamine. Every medical box should have some piraton in. It can however go deeper as some breeds are allergic to food groups, and do require more than just an antihistamine. It is the build up of histamine in the skin of a dog from pollen and pollution which causes Mast Cell Tumours. A dog maybe predisposed to have MCT but the trigger is outside influences and after reading much research the view is taking away the dogs hormone from it too early or at all can cause MAST cells in the skin. MCT is not common in one breed of dog, they are seen in every single dog on the planet now. The build up of toxins in the skin causes outbreaks. So is their anything you can do for your dog? The answer is don't neuter your dog. Or wait until its an adult dog, so not before 3 years of age. Some breeds I would even urge caution at 3. Give your dog a natural holistic approach diet. So raw healthy foods with anti toxins in. Blue berries are wonder for this. Give your dog supplements to give it the best chance ever. Omega three oils, feed your dog oily fish a few times a week. Cut out red meats. Add in Irish moss into the diet, and querticin which are great for removal of toxins. Give your dog also some milk thistle powder. Try not giving any vaccines, wormers or flea treatments. The more we interfere with animals the more we see outcomes of illness. With all the good will in the world we think we are helping our pets, and it can be the exact opposite. So use natural foods, natural veg, fruit. Even better if its organic. Give the dog eggs in the diet, shells, and keep a record of any reactions which have a common break out. Wash your dogs fur down if you have been running it in crops where poisons could of been sprayed. Or try and keep away from spayed areas. I know this may all sound little bit OTT.But in the long run it will help keep your pet healthier. The air we breathe is sadly full of toxins from the house hold. We don't even think about it. We recently had someone contact us to tell us they lost their Weimaraner aged 18. I could not believe it, and I was gob smacked. The dog had lived a very healthy lifestyle. Their is a dog in Portugal called Bobby who is 30 years old. Dr Karen Becker and Dr Rodney JHabib are studying this doing to see why this could possibly be the oldest dog in the world. They found out it is the oldest dog in the world. The conclusions was diet, the dog ate from the gardens herbs, and healthy foods grown direct and food in season. Never flea treated or wormed, and never had a vaccine. So lets just take a few moments to think do we want a dog that's unhealthy or healthy ? Do not be bullied by those in a profession which clearly do not have the dogs best interests at heart. We live in a world where money propels us in our way of thought. This is sad. But certainly keep antihistamine in your medical box. Use holistic antihistamine in dogs which are itchy, allergic and have food allergies. Don't forget Irish moss. We have not had a Weimaraner litter for 8-9 years and when we had the opportunity to add back into team Silvestre a Weimaraner, we decided that we would after all those years have a litter at some point. Piper is the most chilled out loving Weimaraner you could wish for, unlike most Weimaraners ive come across in the last few years. Piper came into season and we have arranged to use a lovely boy with some super dogs in pedigree we have seen over the years and followed.
So I go on line and have a look at litters in the uk at the moment to get an idea of what people are doing and my heart sank........wtaf was more of my wording. I went to one advert, then another and then another and I realised that pet breeders have over taken the breeding of these majestic dogs and crossed them with dogs. We have so many so called Blue weimaraners in the pedigree. Weak boned looking dogs and not healthy looking in the adverts. What on earth has possessed people to put a cross breed in then call it pedigree dogs. I had heard rumblings over the years from club members about how the breed was ruined, and I honestly am quite upset to see such a wonderful breed ruined in front of our eyes. The blue dog was a black Labrador put into the Weimaraner. The German clubs did DNA tests to check in case their was some fluke genetic colour and it wasn't. They announced this many years ago. But some how they got registered in the UK as NRC (Not recognised colour), and because of this the pedigrees are all muddled up. I mean come on folks, either declare them as a cross breed and youll still get the same money instead of ruining centuries of selective breeding in one fowl swoop. Its laziness not to find the right stud dog for your bitches. We knew 10 years ago that blue seemed to come through puppy mills in America which got imported to the UK. We also knew this colour and a high incident rate of Hip dysplasia and heart problems, which the Weimaraner didnt really have. Their are always health problems in breeds of dogs, but now their was added in even more. The biggest killer of Weimaraners is cancer with out a doubt, their has been research into why this has happened in other breeds. You must follow the most holistic way of life to own a Weimaraner. I do not intend on breeding lots of Weimaraner litters, but we would like Piper to have 1 litter with us. We have selectively chosen a male which has good blood lines with NO blue in it what so ever. Piper is being worm counted this week, and I shall follow a holistic rearing of the puppies. Your puppy won't have a better start. The puppies will be a lovely silver grey colouring like the parents. Did you know that if a breeder kibble rears a puppy the higher chances of that puppy have allergies during its lifetime are high. But if they raw feed then your puppy has the best start in life possible. Don't take our word for it, as theirs enough scientific reading. We will do our utmost to holistically rear your puppy for you and it will be given the best start with social skills. With the best blood lines you can hope for. In the meanwhile I will not go and look at any more so called Weimaraner adverts as its too upsetting to see what's been done in these lovely dogs. We always try and support our local open shows, because if we do not they will simply go.
We entered Willow, Roman and Maverick. Willow was second in puppy Roman was first in puppy, best puppy in breed, Group 4 and Crufts qualification Maverick 1st in limit, Best of Breed. Thank you to our judge Tanya Gardiner who thought so highly of our dogs. |
