We have been having a break from showing our dogs. I was pleased as punch the other week that Silvstre Golden Dragon qualified for Crufts 2025. Lucca is a superb specimen of the breed and owned and loved by Sandra and Malcom.
We will be back to the show ring again, but we are not doing many this year. But we are supporting team Silvestre behind the scenes and wish our team the very best. We are concentrating on our next generation at home, training them and keeping them entertained. It's a very busy job.

It's been brought to my attention that I have several files missing which I thought I had on the website. I must of deleted them when I changed the format of the pages and did not put them back.
So hang on and bear with me for two weeks as ive decided to take this opportunity to rewrite some files and get them up to date as the ones I had were a few years old. REMEMBER the password changes often. It willl change again when I update the pages, So always whats app me for the new one. So apologises that I thought I had far more here but some are missing. A gentle reminder to all who contact us.
I am trying to be stricter on contact times and details. I find social media all too easy and whats app for people to keep nagging me these days. As my very good friend said to me this week, you give too much of yourself and this has to stop. I need some space as I lead a busy life, and I would say Im one of the very best breeders who does take good photos. But Im not standing taking photos all day long for you. I have to care for these dogs to the highest standard, training, bathing, feeding. When I have 7 week old puppies it's non stop. Chasing them around, making sure they arent eating something they should not be. Their care and looking after them. You can text me MONDAY TO FRIDAY 10.30am to 2pm by TEXT and I will respond. We can arrange to do a call out of work hours but the majority of messages I get are not life and death situations so we can keep them sensibly to work hours. I have a disability which causes great fatigue, but I hide it well. But evenings are a no go. I get brain fog, and I loose my vision around 8pm. I cant even read my phone some nights. It is a disability which I cope as best as I can do. PHOTOS - I take photos of each weeks development. But I do not always get the chance to send them on one particular day or I may miss a week. But I'll post through out the week the individual photo on Instagram or I may do a tik Tok video. I do get around to sending everyone a photo when I get the time. When you live with animals life is busy. If you think what happens on a Sunday, we are working still. It never ends, mending fences, bathing dogs, nails, general care, looking after the land the dogs run on, mowing takes a day. Emergencies. Please remember if your dog is unwell the first person you should call is your vet. If your dog is mis behaving and you can not cope contact a trainer first and continue with training. If this does not work try a behaviourist. I am going to do a bit of a career change coming soon. Im training to be a Reiki healer, and I am going to apply this to animals. Plus I am looking into some courses on holistic training. Which I have to fit in my spare time. Whats spare time she says.! Anyway be mindful when you contact me. Try to do it work hours, and especially dont text me night times or in the early hours of the morning. Last week...1 text 10.24pm. 2 text 11.20. 3rd text 11.55. 4th text 3am. Now you know if thats you. But you will not Get a response from me until work hours. I have got to start doing this because I cant be woken up to answer your late night texts. Thanks for your understanding. Good morning everyone, todays post is about feeding dogs.
I was telling Darryl the other day one of the highlights of owning dogs for me is feeding a good quality diet and seeing how much they enjoy what I give them. I really enjoy it but then I love cooking. I actually have coeliac disease so make everything from scratch for myself, not a single ready meal in this house. But I wonder if this is why I enjoy time preparing dog food. I understand that a lot of people want to just feed and go. Look at www.nutriment.co.uk for all ready made raw dog foods. You can give variety through choosing different dog meats. Chicken one day, duck another, fish and so on. Our dogs are started onto nutriment, then we start to mix in other meats because we are aware not everyone can afford nutriment, and prefer to go through cheaper companies. This gets puppies ready to change to more course texture meat and bone if we start them around 7 weeks. But if you do go to a cheaper brand remember you need to give variety still and add in the things your puppy may be missing. A dog has 22 amino acids in its diet, and 11 are vital. The most vital is taurine. A lack of taurine and your dog could develop dilated cardio myopathy. So feed fresh foods with good nutriments to give it a varied diet. For example yesterdays dinner for our adult dogs and puppies. Adults) Turkey/bone/offal and Tripe, Chicken Gizzard, Chicken heart, spinach, fresh egg, apple, sardine. herbs, wheatgerm oil, green lipped muscle, pro biotic. Krill oil capsule. Today we have Chicken/bone/offal and tripe, chunks goat meat with bone, paddy whack. herbs, wheatgerm oil, green lipped muscle, probiotic. krill oil capsule, enzymes. Our puppies this morning have had. Duck meat /bone and tripe chunks, mixed with nutriment puppy, fish chopping into tiny pieces. half a mug of water poured on top. keepers mix. I alternative food groups every day, which makes our dogs really enjoy their food. But I also know by feeding variety Im covering all the aspects of diet required. But remember you can buy it already done and ready to go. Just defrost and feed. The choice is yours. Remember if you feed Kibble you will see a difference in coat condition. From a shiny coat the Vizsla coat goes drab and brittle looking. Skin is unhealthy. Then what it is doing to your dogs immune system is far greater on the inside hence why so many people have unhealthy adult dogs always at the vets, always have issues with skin. When dogs eat dried kibble they are more thirsty, and their stools double in size, and they poo more than a dog fed raw. Now some dogs do not hold weight on raw, but it is a healthier weight. But make sure you do not follow food calculators. If your dog is thin feed it more as it's that simple. Dont worry yourself about exact amounts. It must be look with the eye with this type of diet. If you think your dog is thin it probably is, so feed it more. Give half as much again and see what happens. Puppies should have 10% of their body weight, but actually in some cases they require more. Because some are more active than others. Adults its 2-3% of body weight but same applies. A young teenage dog will require more than a 10 year old veteran dog. Old dogs do not burn off their food. Some may require a slight change in proteins also. Rachel |
