Lots for me to talk about on our blog this week.
Brooklyn is in season finally. She kept us to the last week in May, which was 8 months since her last season but she is in. Thank goodness for that. As lots of people are waiting for one of her puppies and if she has enough and girls, we are keeping one ourselves. As we are retiring two females this year. So what do you need to do next if you are waiting. Watch the available page, and once I’ve mated her, come forward if you are waiting for a puppy. Text me only on 07584279384. But do not until you have seen she has been mated. I will be ready then to sort out the waiting list properly. 30 days from mating we hopefully will get her scanned so long as my lady will do it due to covid, I’m not sure. This will give us a good indication on numbers of puppies then. Next info is Sabrina the Pug is in season and being mated in the next few days. Bruce is going to be the daddy to the puppies this time. All health tests have been stopped at vets. But we managed to get two done this week which is Hemivertebra spinal X-ray, and patellar, and I am pleased to report she is free from HV and patellas are 0:0. The biggest thing for me to try and explain is the scammers who are out there, then poor breeders who are out there. It is all up to you and only you but you need to walk away and be patient. Having a poorly bred dog means a lifetime with a sick dog, a lifetime of vet bills running into the thousands, pups left mothers too young will have behavioural issues later. Please please listen to me. I know you want a puppy and want it now, but if you feed these terrible breeders money you will either loose your money or you will just keep these people going. Ive now heard 7 scams where people have been so desperate for puppies they have parted with their money to advertisers on certain websites, and the puppies have not come. Police notified but most responses have been, due to covid we cant look into it. Some have done and got crime numbers, but its finding the people, as they give fake numbers, fake addresses. Ive now heard how puppy prices have gone off the scale, and because of demand Vizsla puppies are now £3000, Frenchies £5000 and Cockerpoos £3000, Golden retrievers £3800 and so on. Someone local to me has been bragging they are selling their bulldog pups for £6000 a puppy and he doesnt have a license. These are highly inflated prices. This doesnt mean you will get a well bred dog by parting with £3000! Far from it, you are falling to scammers. I saw one Vizsla online a puppy, sweet, yes! But oh my goodness the body shape so poor, eyes looked strained which suggests to me a health issue either immune or intolerance. So you can part with your good earned money but it doesnt mean you will get what you wanted. You may seem satisfied for a few days but when the bills roll in, you will wish you had waited. Now welfare is the other issue. The breeding bitch should not be mated until 2 years of age. She should have no more than 1-4 litters in her lifetime as per defra and breed clubs rules. We take the view that each bitch should be taken on how each litter is. Some bitches are excellent mothers, and some are not. Is it fair to force a dog to do something it hates? NO.! Some produce milk, and some dont. So if they dont is it fair to go through it again? No! We should be kind to our animals, welfare is everything. Puppies are also healthier if mothers are well looked after. But what’s come to my attention this week is a breeder, female, and I know the area is selling puppies. The bitch is 3 and is on its 3rd litter. Another a bitch had a litter six months ago, is having another now, and in six months will have another. She doesn’t want to register this litter with kennel club as she wants to register next time. This is dreadful unkind way of breeding a dog. By law we arent allowed to breed every season, which suggests she cant have a license to breed. The kennel club wont register a litter if a bitch has had a litter with in 12 months. So she is doing it to avoid tax maybe, and over breed the poor dog. WALK AWAY! The more you buy from these breeders the more these poor dogs are put through puppy farming. Kept in poor conditions, breaking breeding laws in the UK. SO WALK AWAY! If you as the buying public dont part with your money these ladies will go out of business. Its not up to the government to catch and fine them, its your responsibility to not part with your money. Remember just because you see their house doesnt mean the dogs arent kept out the back in disgusting conditions. WALK AWAY! If you suspect anything odd. Another one is pet breeders. We are only having the one litter so we are not a breeder. What a load of tosh. Anyone who breeds once is a breeder. This doesn’t excuse health tests not done, or poor welfare. Plus if they say this you can guarantee they are going to do it again. This is a sales pitch, but they are tax avoiders. WALK AWAY! Did you know that to sell a single puppy a breeder requires a license? Their is no such thing any more as pet breeder, hobby breeder. They use these terms to avoid tax, avoid licenses. They can have a litter and not take money for them, then they dont require the license. Help all of us better animal welfare, help us stop these poor breeding practises. If you think some of them earn 10K a litter, and dont pay tax, is that fair? If say my husband went and fitted a kitchen for someone and said to himself I want 10K but i wont declare it, you would be furious. (I ADD HE DOESNT) but this is just the same. All jobs we are required to submit a tax return. Dog breeders have to be self employed. Submit a tax return even if we make a loss. So do the right thing, check! Oh but they seem so nice. Wake up dont be scammed. Am I moaning yes! I want you to know their is more than just having a puppy going on. We need to promote good ethics in breeding. Please check the breeder is licensed, ideally an assured breeder. Do they show their dogs ? As show folk breed better quality pets, with out a doubt. Also we are all in the front line for new health tests coming along.

Hi everyone, Thank you for reading through our website and blog. Plus following us on instagram.
I need to ask for some patience at the moment. I am dealing with huge numbers of daily enquiries, so many that it takes ages to reply and even the longer to do phone calls. Our next litter is Brooklyn but her waiting list is full if everyone who has said they want a puppy has waited. Of course we never know what’s around the corner, so it’s worth contacting us. But at the moment it looks more likely availability will be our later litters. Their seems to be several things that have happened in dog sales. Covid 19 has caused a huge influx of people wanting dogs, because they are at home. Then their is a huge shortage of Vizsla puppies due to breeders not breeding because of Covid. Lots of breeders have reduced litters or given up because they dont wish to purchase a breeders license. So its causing now a shortage. So if you want a well bred puppy you have to get on waiting lists and be patient. Of course their are breeders out there going ahead with out licenses which have puppies now and you could buy one tomorrow. But it doesnt mean its a healthy, well socialised, properly raised, legally bred puppy. Waiting is a must. Send me an email with questions answered, be patient for reply. We will then arrange a call back by text. FUTAKI HORNS 2020.
What are the Futaki horns? Small skin tag like horns, which are covered in hair. Vizsla breed specialists claim they are unique to the Hungarian Vizsla, but this is not true. Having owned Weimaraners we can say they also appear in Weimaraners. But also other pointing breeds you can find in Europe. So they are not unique to Hungarian Vizsla. They are called something different for each breed. In Weimaraners they are known as Harrasburg horns. In the gsp they are known as grabenbruch horns. I’m also told you can find the Futaki horns in the Doberman. In Hungary the horns are called “Szary”, which was known in the Hungarian greyhound. In America the Futaki lines bred by Count and Countess Bella Hadik were thought to have the most Futaki horns, and this is where the word Futaki became well known. You may have one on one ear. You may have one on each ear, symmetrical, and then you may lift the ear flap and find several inside the ear too. The horns are thought in some breeds to be lucky. If your dog has them good luck will befall on the owner, or the dog. A breed of dog in Hungary called the Hungarian greyhound the Agar was a dog thought to be put into the Vizsla breeding to create speed. The Agar had several horns and was well known for having them, some believe that this is why the Vizsla today has the Futaki horns. The Hungarian Greyhound had speed, drive and hunting ability. The colours were rusty dun or yellow dun which again is thought to improve the Vizsla colour to Russet Gold. Photo to follow of a Futaki horn. No news on puppies, I should mention this first of all. But I’m hopeful. A little silly story. The small breeds seem to know when our Vizsla are changing hormonally. We have noticed that 2 weeks before a bitch comes into season Ronnie and Bruce get extremely interested in the female. Today Ronnie has tried to hump Brooklyns leg and Bruce is humping Ronnie. So either thats just how they are feeling, or they can detect now a hormone change. It will be interesting to see if in two weeks she is in season then I will know that again the boys know something we dont. Brooklyn is such a tart and loves the attention, I can see Tango looking down his nose at them as if to say “Idiots”! But we will see. I doubled checked her last season so see when in the month she came in last and it was end of the month, so hopefully May we will have news. I have a full waiting list of people waiting now. They had a fine time on the law today as I balanced on the bottom of a ladder to weight it down, whilst a fence was trimmed.
Remember dont just call me out the blue, as I dont keep a phone on me. Text me so I see it when I walk back indoors. Then I will arrange a call back. If I forget dont take it personally, text me again! I have an illness which when I’m fatigued or in pain it can block memory. So what I thought about doing last week, I will of forgotten. So text me again. |
