Last week was a busy week for me.  We had some good results back from health tests.  

Gucci is officially Glaucoma - Clear.  I took her to the Animal Health trust at New market, the small animal centre.  They are very helpful and its well worth having done.  Glaucoma is NOT a required health test for Hungarian Vizsla with the Kennel club of Great Britain.   

The Hungarian Vizlsa is on Schedule B.  Their are two Schedules A & B. If your dog breed appears on Schedule A then it is a required health test.  If it is on B it is not required but they are noting their are now more and more cases of Glaucoma in UK Vizsla.  They have no intentions of moving Vizsla to Schedule A at the moment.  But they are grateful to breeders who go along and test their dogs as they believe the clear dogs should be bred from and not effected. It is a visual eye test.  So a magnifying lens is put on the dogs eye ball and the vet looks in the eye for Glaucoma.  One day this may well be a DNA test, but that is many years away. 

We also did 2 DNA tests last week.  For HUU in Hungarian Vizsla.  In the past this test was available for Wire Haired Vizsla, and it is a required test for Wires.  But it became available for shorts as well.  

Gucci is clear of HUU  & Tango is clear of HUU.  

Genetics are easier for me to understand now than ever before. With the aid of health tests we can eliminate dog health issues.  With out tests however we can not and their lays the problem.

Latest News!  Our lovely Gucci is being mated soon.  She will be having a pre-mate test done to confirm ovulation, then we shall take her to be mated.  30 days later she will be scanned.  
After 30 days we can firmly put you on the waiting list.  We get an idea of number size, but not the different sexes.
Do you want to visit us ?  Then you may do so after 30 days.  
I do not see the point in seeing people so far ahead if for example she didn't fall pregnant.    Remember I only see people who genuinely want a puppy from us.  If you are on other breeders waiting lists, go there not here.

We can NOT tell you how many dogs verse bitches we will have.  Scans do not reveal this information.  All they show us is a foetus.  The day we know what sexes we have is the day they are born.   I fully understand that many of you do not understand this as you do not know what is involved, but some of you will already know this.  I get asked so many questions with regards to pregnancies, that I am going to write this information now into my website also. 

I also find it bizarre that people follow my website and try to follow everything I write, yet go to another breeder to purchase the puppy, who can't give them any advice.  Don't you think... if the breeder can't answer your questions that in fact you shouldn't buy there ?  I know I wouldn't. Having a Vizsla is not an easy first few weeks, you need advice, you need guidance, and you need someone who can just tell you what to do.  The choice of course is yours, but please don't buy from bad breeders and then think you can just read my website for advice.  Don't buy from them in the first place.  Don't promote puppy farming.  Don't promote dog breeding from filthy conditions.  You hand your money over and all you have done is put that poor bitch in pup again in six months.  THINK DOG! THINK WELFARE! THINK ETHICS!
