Tango went to Belgium and won the RCACIB.  What a clever boy he is. He currently has 3 CACIB's and needs 1 more to be an International champion.  I can not claim this until after April 2018.  I am taking him myself to a show in April where we hope to get his final CACIB.    Wish us luck xx

Two of our Vizsla called Reilly and Leya were at the Animal health trust for Glaucoma testing.  This is not a required test for Hungarian Vizsla, but we are always up front with testing the dogs, and we knew they would be clear results as the parents to these dogs were clear also.  

​So yes they were CLEAR!

Just some information for breeders who are wondering what the information on Glaucoma testing is all about, as their are some false reports going around.
The Animal health trust have said that the Hungarian Vizsla is on schedule B.  This means it is NOT a requirement to breed your dog only from Glaucoma tested parents.  It is purely if you want to do the test you can do.
The other rumour is it should be done yearly.  No it doesn't, this is a 3 yearly test at the moment.  This means that they do not think Glaucoma will develop in clear dogs in under 3 years, its an advisory to have it done again in three years, where as previously it was a one off test.  If a dog was tested clear then you did not need to do it again for the dogs lifetime.  This part has changed, and its now 3 yearly. 
If Hungarian Vizsla breed gets taken from Schedule B and put on Schedule A then it would be a requirement to do before breeding. 
However please note that you could have clear results for 7 years and then your dog develop it.  This is out of everyone's hands.  Their is NO dna marker for Glaucoma and the gene can not be detected by DNA tests.  This makes it much harder.  All we can do is let these specialists look at as many Vizsla eyes as possible to gain a much bigger picture.  They need the healthy dogs as well as unhealthy ones.    So if you have a breeding Vizlsa you may want to consider having this test done by a specialist eye vet.

Team Silvestre had a very good day Sunday at LKA Championship show.  I didn't attend as my next show is in Belgium.

Silvestre's Jolene won her junior bitch class owned by Diane Priestly.

Then a Tango's daughter in puppy called Rowan won her puppy class and Best Bitch puppy in breed.  So what a fab time they all had.   Well done everyone, and to all the other winners, and participants.
