We are delighted to announce our return to the show ring was a big success and Indianna was 2nd place in a great Limit class which qualified him for Crufts 2022.
Geralts first every champ show he won puppy dog, best puppy dog, best puppy in breed which then resulted him going into the group later in the day where he was shortlisted to the final 6! A very strong group. I would like to thank the judges who thought so highly of our boys yesterday and also to Darryl for Handling our lovely Geralt. But to everyone who contacted us by PM yesterday that they were watching the puppy group on facebook live feeds, and all the support from everyone. But also all the lovely comments from our friends later on. Im glad you think of Geralt as we do, he is a cracker! A big well done to all our friends in various breeds for your successes also. Rachel x A friendly reminder to all of you about the heat. Summer time is welcomed, and we often want to scoop the dog up, go to the beach and enjoy the fun family time. But a word of warning. If you own a Bracy breed, such as Pug, French bulldog you need to remember these dogs can not regulate their body temperature by panting. They have no long nose to draw air in and start the cooling process. So we need to be ultra cautious, and go evening times, or early mornings for our walks. If you go mid day your dog could die.
So things to look for. Any Bracy breed should not be walked in temperatures over 16. HPR breeds can be walked happily up to 23/24, but anything after the heat can start to cause them to over heat. If your dog flags at 20 then don't walk over 20. Place your hand on the floor and feel the heat of the pavement. Is it too hot to touch? If yes its too hot for the dogs paws. Is your dog panting excessively ? If yes take inside and use fans, cooling mats, air con. Your dogs may not want to eat much in the summer heat. Just remember we are the same. Feed them in the cool evening, or early morning, and do not leave food down to ferment. Do not leave dried dog food down in the sun, it activates fermentation and can cause Bloat in HPR breeds, upset stomachs in small breeds. Have a paddling pool for your dogs. Cooling coats. If you go for a day out take a cooling coat, and pour cold water on it whilst on the dog. Remember to leave fresh water down. Do not use iced treats as it can cause spasms in the gut of the dog. Cold water is best, and pouring cold water on the dog also. or luke warm water. If your dog shows signs of heat stroke how would you know? Dog is lethargic, cries, paces, has sticky drool, collapse. Get a towel and make it cold with water, wrap dog in cold water towel. Dont plunge into water as it could cause shock. Once you have drapped cold water towel over, with other hand ring vet immediately and go in. They will hydrate the dog with a drip. Do dogs get sun burnt noses? YES! If your dogs nose looks sore then its probably sun burn. Did you know you can buy sun screen for dogs? Yes from vets or online. But use nose balm to heal poorly noses. I sell a balm which is all made of natural products, and I have used this on my own dogs crusty noses. Im about to launch an online shop with this product available. Its good for sore paws too. Ideal to have it in your box ready. Well thats about it. Enjoy yourselves and enjoy the weather but always think, is this too hot for my dog. R xx I have today changed the website password. If you are a previous Silvestre owner and wish to get in, just text me and ill send it over. Im updating the information all the time. I have a few files to write on diet which now I hope I will get chance to do over the next few weeks. We have now a support group on facebook, and if you have booked a puppy and wish to join, find me Rachel Savage and ill add you to the group. Their are other people there who do not own Silvestre, but they are connected either by me using their stud dog, or friends from showing, and a couple have no dog off me at all as they lost the dog but enjoy just reading the posts and sharing pictures of their rescue dogs. We embrace all dogs, and just because you brought one off us in the past but now have a cross breed but wish to continue with us, then we keep you.
Take care all xx I would just like to thank everyone who has enquired for a puppy from Roux.
They are now all reserved. To those that missed out from this litter, we will be having a Vizsla litter in a couple of months time. I have a few people to place at the start of her list, but will then accept any new enquiries. I do not think I will scan bitches any more as not one scan has been correct this year. Which makes waiting lists very difficult. We are going to however do things very differently this time. After consulting with a friend today she had a brilliant idea how to stop breeders being messed around. I will update our terms shortly how to reserve a puppy in the future. In the meanwhile, enjoy this lovely summer weather. Its a bit hot for our dogs but Ive managed them quite well. I am not a sun lover as we seem to get muggy hot weather. We are going to remain cautious for the remainder of 2021 even with covid rules relaxing. We know several people who work in the NHS who feel that we will go into lockdown again this winter time. Its great that vaccines have been given, but it doesnt mean you wont catch covid or us. My mother lives with us and she is more frail now than at the beginning of the year, so we have to protect our immediate family too. What we have decided is to do puppy visits at 5 weeks of age, and then you can pick up your puppy at 8 weeks. We hope to have a little summer house at the front of our garden where we can do puppy visits in. If not then it will be the grooming parlour. You will meet mum and dad and any relatives, but until we are sure Covid is no longer a threat then their will be no visits inside our home. Photos and videos will be sent to you by what’s app of mum interacting with her puppies, but you will meet mum and her puppies at 5 weeks stages. I can not show you dad to our current litter as we do not own dad. Changes in payment details will be announced on our information pages hopefully this week with a change to the way we have done things during covid times. We do not take credit cards or paypal for payments for puppies. Only bank transfers or cash at the end. But I will update our website with a slight change for our July litter, For our September Vizsla litter to reserve one we are going to take £100 deposit once a scan reveals sexes and only if you are flexible on sexes. A selection of leads, collars, toys, natural dog treats will be available to purchase on collection. Payment by bank transfer, paypal or cash is accepted.
After a few difficult weeks with my mum she seems more stable. With care in place, we then took a break to Cornwall to get some energy back to take on the world again. With a litter due I do not want to take phone calls until after they have been delivered safely, I never know how many puppies will be born as scans can be wrong, if any are available I will post on the available page.
Just to let those of you know who have had a puppy off us before I have updated the information pages and added a new page titled EGGS! As I get asked all the time about eggs and can you feed them to dogs. I’m in the process of writing two more articles as well. You can see photos of our dogs in Cornwall on Instagram, and I will in due course add them to the website. Show news: I’m pleased to see Tango children and Chilli children in the cards at champ shows. Well done Logan, & Jack. I now have 2 champ shows booked for Geralt. With two more possible champ shows to book with in the next week or so. I’m travelling with a friend to the first one, whilst our dogs are looked after by Joshua and Darryl. Our dogs are NEVER EVER left alone. We have a great family network for caring for our beloved dogs. We are expecting also a Vizsla litter for September time. |
