I thought it was time to remind people about chemical reactions in dogs.
We all have our pets best interests at heart, We follow what we are told to do by medical professionals, thinking that we are doing the right thing. But Im afraid to say that we need to be careful and cautious what we are doing to our pets. A gentle reminder is needed from time to time to jolt a few viewers into reality that not only vaccine, but flea and wormer can have adverse effects in our own dogs in so many ways. I read an awful lot, and always have done. Spent time at referral centres listening to talks. The first time I really realised about chemical reactions from flea and wormer that can occur was in my own Pug Frankie. As a youngster she kept developing huge sores on her neck and shoulders. They were disgusting and sore. I went back and forth to the vets, who suggested in the end £500 worth of testing from food to allergy to plant. I said well food is easy for us as we can eliminate ourselves as we feed the barf diet. So we decided to eliminate chicken which is always the first one to eliminate. But no change. Something was niggling at me that it didn't present as a normal allergy. I knew enough about dog health to know this is not normal. One vet suggested the dog could be allergic to my cats. That I must keep all cats out of her way and see if their was an improvement. I laughed as I had never heard of a dog being allergic to cats, but she assured me this is a factor for some dogs. WOW! I never knew! It then dawned on me it was the flea and wormer treatment. I spoke to my vet rather excitedly that I had discovered what it was myself, and I was shot down in flames. No way could it be the flea and wormer. I felt so convinced, but went away deflated that it was not flea or wormer. Anyway the sores cleared up, and the next months wormer and flea was due. I put the spot on and with in hours the sores appeared. By morning weeping skin, which then scabbed to the size of two 5op pieces. So I decided okay Im convinced its chemical. I started reading more and more and I was not a single case. Their were hundreds but with reactions far worse. It didn't feel right to completely ignore my vets advice. I felt like I was doing something wrong by not treating her. But I knew in my heart that I had to be correct. After all we pay for their advice and we think the advice has to be right! When I started reading posts online, I read how dogs were presenting with head nodding, mild fits, to full blown epileptic fits. Vets treating the dogs as epileptic when in fact the monthly worming or 3 monthly in the case of some brands were triggering the next episodes. I found facebook groups dedicated to the sheer amount of sick pets due to the chemicals we give them. Of course the biggest thing we need to understand is we are giving the dogs and cats poison to kill these parasites. So why wouldn't they effect the dogs in another way ? Its poison.! Of course its possible, in fact it is fact!!! I stopped Frankie's wormer and flea treatment and went homeopathic. Then you kind of forget its there. I went out walking with a friend of mine and the next day Frankie was again weeping and sore. I rang my friend and said have you just treated any of the dogs with flea and wormer ? She said yes that morning! So I then knew Frankie was so allergic to chemical whilst it is wet that she would blow up again. So if any of my other dogs are treated we pop Frankie in quarantine for 48 hours. I then realised their is actually nothing wrong with her, it is a chemical reaction. None of my other dogs have it and have never had a reaction. So thats my real understanding when it dawned on me that dogs can be ill from the chemical. I knew about vaccine damage, I had researched this back in the 1990's when I was sent a medical paper on the damage it was having to Weimaraners. It was a medical study, I didnt understand the whole paper but I understood enough to see that these dogs were sensitive to vaccine. I shouldn't say just sensitive as I think 13 were euthanised because of the damage the vaccine had done to the brain. So its more than just sensitivity. I still have this paper today someone on file. But it didnt really dawn on me that flea and wormer could have this effect on dogs. So if your pet has sores, is lethargic after treatment, has diarrhoea after treatment, seems to fly snap or head nod, or has mild fitting, to severe. Don't discount vaccine damage, don't discount flea and wormer damage. Their are facebook groups dedicated to the sheer volume of dogs which have died from Lepto 4 vaccine. Dogs which are staggering about uncoordinated afterwards, dogs having fits, dogs crying and confused, huge swelling at the site of the vaccine, pus, weeping and sore. We need to address this. Their is on our government website a link https://www.gov.uk/report-veterinary-medicine-problem/animal-reacts-medicine You can report yourself the reaction your pet has had. The reason is the veterinary profession is not reporting these reactions, and whilst this carries on, pets are dying. How many more pets have to die from severe reactions before they will with draw chemicals and vaccine from the shelf ? What you should do if your dog does have a reaction ? It seems that the specialist hospitals, referral centres are more up to date on the reactions than vets are. I would suggest you request a referral from your vet so long as you are insured. If insured you can get specialist help for your pet. I say insured as referrals are not cheap. Some vets are wonderful and understand immediately issues. I remember speaking to one lady vet a few years ago who admitted in their practise she had seen lots of reactions to vaccine. Most do not like to admit its a problem. Lets fact it for a huge part of the population it is not a problem. Dr Karen Becker and Dr Ronald Schultz are proactive vets with the welfare of dogs at heart. They are professionals, and Dr Schultz is a scientist and educator of vaccine. Go to Google, type in Dr Ronald Schultz and go to U TUBE and start listening to their talks. Dr Schultz believes vaccines should be done, but correctly and the world is not vaccinating correctly. Why aren't we listening to the man behind the science ? No-one should over vaccinate their pet. This is what they are trying to get across in their talks. By the way Frankie is still with us, older and wiser, and has never had another sore outbreak since I removed the flea and wormer from her regular treatment. She is a fit and healthy Pug. Now grandmother to other Pugs and nanny who loves every baby that comes into the house.
