Dog breeding hit the news yet again. Apparently their are still many unlicensed breeders selling dogs at ridiculous prices in the UK. Not just puppy farmed dogs in bad conditions, but a lot of families have set up breeding from their pet. The guide is if you take £1000 in the course of a year then you have to submit a tax return. Many have not been and their is going to be a big clamp down soon on dog breeders with hmrc again. The tax return is nothing to do with the breeding license. The only guide is if you take £1000 you are a business in what ever it is you are selling.
Ipswich magistrates just had to fine breeders who were breeding with out a license. If you are a breeder and reading this, take heed. I do not know why people fear having a license as the council are usually very good and try to help you fill in the paper work correctly. They will send you spread sheets to fill in the litter info etc. Their is also online license groups to help people obtain a license on social media. I can see on pets 4 homes website many breeders in Norfolk selling dogs for high prices and they have no license at all. It says on the description if a breeder is licensed or not. Apparently the authorities are now really about to clamp down and watching these adverts, and facebook adverts. Lots of local groups sell dogs. The oldest trick in the book is to wait until someone asks for a puppy on social media, then all the breeders not wishing to advertise bombard by Private message the person looking. They seem to think that they must be legit if on facebook. Facebook has no control of whats going on in this area. But it is up to you as the buyer to say NO!. Another classic one is renting a house to sell a litter from. It will appear a nice family home, and a bitch which is probably not the mother is in the home for you to view. The actual mother is in a pit of stench somewhere all matted to the skin. Do you research. Please buy from recommendation or from proper breeders. Breeders that health test their dogs before they breed from them. Because of Covid we decided to really show everyone all our dogs on social media instagram so you can see the condition of the dogs and the welfare is obvious. Its not like you can go and view breeders in 2021. Its against the law to travel out of your area. We do not just show puppy photos, we show you every aspect of living with our dogs. It will give you a real feel of how the dogs are. When we do get puppies we send the owners videos and photos by whats app. Like this you can see a diary of the puppy growing up.
