From January 2022 the assured breeder scheme has decided that two new health tests are required for Hungarian Vizsla. The following tests are required from Jan 22 are:
Hip scoring Elbow Scoring Glaucoma Testing BVA annual eye testing. Currently the only health tests required are Hip scoring and Glaucoma testing. Just to give people heads up, as we had not heard about this until I spoke to the Kennel club this week. After several calls later no one else knew about it either. I am going to try and find out why the annual eye test is included now as this must mean this is issues with eyes that none of us are aware of. We know Glaucoma is present in many Vizsla lines and it is hereditary, but we have not been told why the annual eye test is now required. So far I can not find out why. The assured breeder team said to contact the breed clubs to see if they know why its been requested, so I shall be doing this. My dogs are all booked in for extra testing, and the earliest test for eyes I could get is October 2021. But hopefully we will get all the tests done before Jan 2022.
