I often see adverts online which state the parents are fully health tested. When in fact they are not fully health tested. Some people go to their own vet who gives the dog a quick once over and they then claim its fully health tested when its not. We have X-rays, DNA testing, Eye testing etc which can be done.
The French bulldog requires very few health tests but their are more available which should be done. BOAS, Patella, French bulldog health scheme, bronze and silver minimum. Hereditary Cateracts DNA, BVA Eye testing, Heart checked, Any other DNA is a bonus. Hungarian Vizsla - Hips, Elbows, Glaucoma, BVA annual eye test. Minimum. But there are more tests than this available. HUU, CA, ECLE, DM. Bracco Italiano. - Did you know no health tests are required by the KC. ? But you can do hips, elbows, eye testing, kidney testing. Ask to see the results on paper and do not assume if an advert says fully tested because it may just mean the dog saw a vet once for a health test, and it was not actually proper health testing. So check and don't assume.
