Natural Treats

I am asked all the time what treats can puppies have that are fed natural diets. It is quite simple but foods which do not contain loads of E numbers.
The best foods are dehydrated natural foods. Gluten free biscuits.

What dehydrated treats do we feed our puppies and adult dogs?
Turkey, Chicken and Duck necks
Chicken feet
Chicken, Duck wings
Pizzles
Snouts
Ears, cows, buffalo, sows ears, goats, rabbits
Camel, ostrich, reindeer.
Beef muscle
Lamb muscle
Lamb legs, venison legs,
Dried fish.

Dogs love to chew, and so do puppies. Puppies are at the beginning of teething and they need something to chew all the time.

A dogs natural instinct is the chew. It will chew anything when it is a puppy, something edible, to electric cables. So providing something edible is a good idea.

Some dogs require however tougher chews that can not be eaten fully quickly as they are so greedy they would eat and eat and eat until they blew their stomachs. We have one female Vizsla here who fits that category and we have to limit her intake of food.

Chewing can prevent boredom, stimulates them, and cleans their teeth and strengthen jaws, it keeps them happy, occupied and less likely to eat the wrong things.

Just remember not to over do the treats also otherwise it can add up to an extra meal per day if you are feeding a puppy.

Have very hard chews available which are more difficult to swallow quickly. Such as a Yakker, Cows Hoof, pizzle, buffalo skin.

Also do not forget to give plenty of stimulating toys, such as puzzle toys. Every time I go out I come back with bags of new toys for puppies, they are spoilt to pieces. But the more I give them the more fun they have. I also choose different textured toys, from scrunchy sounds, to squeakers and bells. Anything different. Nothing too small that a dog could swallow or chew bits off. This time of year you get so many toys with scarves on or hats, remove them. Anything that could easily be chewed off and swallowed. I even cut off tags.
