The UK Government Defra have now given details as to pet travel going in and out of the UK from January 2021 due to brexit. In some ways it remains the same and in other ways its changed.
Pets passports are no longer valid. A micro chip will be required. A rabies vaccine can not be given to any puppy under the age of 12 weeks. At 12 weeks or older you can have the vaccine. 21 days from the vaccine you can travel but you are required to have a health certificate which can only be done by trained travel vets. This will be a cost of approx £46 plus. As each veterinary centre can decide what they wish to charge. It appears that up to 5 dogs may travel on one certificate, but that also could depend on the vet whose writing up the health certificate. The health certificate has to be done a few days before travel and is valid for 4 months after travel. As soon as Covid is less in Europe we intend on travelling with our boy Silvestre Fortune N Glory and Silvestre Whoo Hoo. To see if we can indeed win anything. Fingers crossed. Any more updates I will post, but thats what ive read today from defra website.
